HyperX displays new lineup at 2BY2 event

Tradeshow & OC events by leeghoofd @ 2014-05-12

The HyperX team introduced to the Belgian press last week their new lineup. Biggest novelty was the side step from the traditional Kingston HyperX branding. HyperX is a standalone brand from now and is mainly focusing on gamers and affiliated markets. Edward, the EMEA business manager was present, together with  most of the Kingston UK team and the Dutch Lewis PR crew. The event location was at 2BY2,  one of Belgians greatest hardware distributors.

Storage Galore

Storage wise new products were also introduced; though it is still early days, as HyperX has opted to use the LSI Griffin SF3700 controller, expected to be released somewhere in early Q3 2014. The HyperX crew told us they rather would not release a half finished or untested product to the masses. A good choice, as LSI worked hard finding ways to increase performance and to drop temperature on their ultra fast controller. These new HyperX products will pop-up once they are finished and properly tested for reliability. Again probably most of the new M.2 and PCIe storage devices will again be shown to the press at Computex in Taipei. The branding names again come back, similar as with the memory kits from fast to fastest: Fury, Savage and Predator.

At CES 2014 a Predator was demonstrated, achieving blistering transfer speeds of 1.8GB/s read. The Predator was capable of random reads of up to 150,000 IOPS. Till now only up to 1TB is confirmed, though rumors are a 2TB version might be a future option.

The USB line up receives the same naming scheme as the aforementioned products: Fury, Savage and Predator.
