IN WIN 805 Mid-tower Computer Case Review

Cases & PSU/Cases by leeghoofd @ 2015-11-17

In Win is one of those manufacturers which really dare to innovate within their growing lineup of computer cases. Last year they stole the show with their highly acclaimed S-Frame, an open air chassis made from a single sheet of aluminium. Of course these high tech cases come at a cost! This year at Computex they surprised friend and foe again with the H-frame case; compare it with a transformer case, that can open and close allowing to access the innards. It is quite expensive but nevertheless a stunning concept case that will be produced in limited numbers. Today however we are taking a look at one of their more affordable nevertheless breathtaking case solution, the IN WIN 805 Mid-tower case.

A Closer Look Contd.

Cooling wise the In Win 805 remains loyal to the standards of many mid-towers: up to two optional 120/140mm front fans can be mounted. In Win includes one white led rear 120 mm fan to expel the heat. Installation of any top fan requires modding skills, though the space is really limited. When one sacrifices or re-positions the HDD cage up to two 120mm fans can be mounted on the bottom, even though I've been questioning the use of this particular ventilation method it seems to be still used by many vendors.

For those that want to upgrade the In Win 805 with a watercooled DIY or AIO cooler one has the option to mount up to a 280mm radiator in the front and/or one 120mm in the rear part of the case. The IN WIN engineers have included a clever solution to quickly remove the front ventilation by using an easy removable front bracket. Just loosen the two thumbscrews and the entire front cooling system can be cleaned/removed. Too bad there are no routing holes foreseen for the cables of the fans if one opts to install the fans in the front of the removable bracket like we did during our assembly.

The PSU is positioned in the bottom part of the case, weirdly enough no anti-vibration dampers to support the power supply. Note that the fan of the power supply needs to be in upward position, otherwise the ventilation will be minimalistic.

The bottom dust filter sports small magnets for a solid re-positioning time after time. No sliding mechanism required, thus easily removable.

The In Win 805 rests on four increased strengthened case stands with rubber shock-proof inserts.
