The Multi-View + Sound Adapter from HIS is a device suited for the USB 3.0 bus, meant to connect an additional monitor to our system, on the HDMI interface; the product does not need extra power and functions with the help of the DisplayLink technology. The manufacturer also mentions that we can connect up to 6 displays to a single system, each with its own adapter.

The Multi-View + Sound Adapter from HIS is shipped inside a small cardboard box, with a photo of the main product on the front; the bottom right corner also has a schematic which shows us how the device must be connected:
When looking on one of the box laterals, we will find a list of the box contents:
On an opposite lateral, we can find some words about the HIS company, in multiple languages:
On the back side of the box, we will find a small product description, along with the list of features, system requirements and supported OSes:
HIS has sealed the box on both sides, for additional security:
Inside the outside packaging, we can find another black box, with the white HIS logo in the middle:
By opening it, we can reveal the adapter inside a cardboard frame:
Underside it we can also find a small manual, a CD with drivers and the USB 3.0 cable:
The small manual shows us the steps we need to perform for installing the drivers and how to proceed with the configuration after the adapter and display have been detected:
To avoid scratches during transport, the shiny white top portion of the product is covered with a transparent plastic material:
On the top side of the adapter we can also find the debossed HIS logo:
On one of the laterals, we will find the HDMI connector and on the other, the USB 3.0 connector:
The bottom side holds a sticker with the product serial number; here we will also find 4 small rubber feet:
After installing the drivers, we can connect the adapter with the supplied cable to a spare USB 3.0 port and the other side, with a HDMI cable (not supplied) to our display:
On the installation CD, we will find the setup package of the DisplayLink technology:
The latest software can be also downloaded from the DisplayLink software, Support Section:
Be sure not to plug in the device in a spare USB port prior to driver installation; after the setup has been completed, we can finally connect the HIS Adapter. Windows will start the automatic configuration right away and if we also have a display connected to the adapter on HDMI, we will see it inside the Windows Display Properties, as a secondary monitor; we can perform exactly the same steps as if the display would have been connected directly to the VGA card itself:
By accessing the DisplayLink icon in the Tray section, we will be able to access more options concerning the adapter and the connected monitor like Screen Resolution, Screen Rotation and so on:
If no sound is coming out of the monitor/TV we have connected to the adapter, then there is a quick fix available; we only have to go to the Control Panel->Sound and check if the Default Communications Device in the Playback section is set to the “Speakers” of the DisplayLink USB Audio Adapter. Right after the modification is applied, the sound issue will be solved.
While using the monitor connected to the adapter and setting it in “Mirror Mode”, we have observed a very small delay between it and the one connected to the VGA card; because of this, we cannot really recommend using the monitor connected to it while playing fast paced FPS games. For all other game types or activities, we haven’t encountered any issues with the product. The HIS adapter does not need extra power through a separate cable and takes very little space on the table; however, the USB cable that is supplied with the product is kind of short, so we won’t have a lot of options available when deciding where to install the device.
The adapter can be found on the market for about 75 Euros, not very cheap, but useful for people that need such kind of device.
