Product Specifications

Packaging, A Closer Look

The NuGreen LED Desk Lamp from Newer Tech is shipped inside a medium-sized cardboard box, with a photo of the main product in front:

A small product description can be found on the side and on the opposite we will find a hint on how to operate the lamp:

On the back we will get to know about the technical specifications of the lamp:

After unsealing the box, we will discover that the product is protected between two layers of cardboard, to avoid damages during transport:

The main components of the lamp are also sealed in foam material:

The power adapter the lamp came with is for US and cannot be used in Europe in this state; the only thing that we have to buy extra is an US-to-European Plug adapter, which is really cheap:

By looking at the adapter specifications, we can confirm that it supports the EU voltages:

The rest of the cable is wrapped together with a velcro strap:

The base of the lamp, as well as the top are initially covered with an adhesive transparent protective film:

The film also contains instructions that show where to touch the lamp in order to power it on:

After removing the plastic film, some adhesive residues may remain, that are easy to clean with a soft cloth:

The lamp has a highly flexible gooseneck which allows us to position the beam exactly where we need it:

NuGreen Desk Lamp contains no less than 50 LEDs, for providing enough light in many activities:

The bottom of the lamp has 6 rubber feet for keeping it stable onto the table:

After the lamp has been plugged in, the bottom ring lights up with a cool red and discrete light; the same ring must be touched in order to operate the lamp:

Here is a small example with the lamp on and off, when light was still outside, at about 11:00 AM:

Conclusive Thoughts

There is no doubt why many people all over the web enjoy using this lamp: it has a clean, professional and modern look, made from quality machined aluminum, compact, fully adjustable and the 50 LEDs succeed to deliver enough brightness for many activities. Also, thanks to the LED design, the lamp body will remain cool at all times.

The lamp can be powered on just by touching a ring on the bottom of the adjustable gooseneck and when it is standby, the respective ring is highlighted by two small LED circles.

As with other product, we can come up with some ideas of improvement like the ability of dimming the LED light by rotating the bottom ring or a newer design of the power adapter where we would be able to change the plug from US to Europe and/or UK types.

The NuGreen LED Desk Lamp is sold by OWC for about $58.
