The Aviator is another cool looking iPhone 4/4S case from Cygnett, built from two separate components which allow the phone to be dockable, by only removing the bottom component. The case is available in two color flavors (silver and blue) and can be found online for about 31 Euros.

The dockable hard case from Cygnett that we will review today is named Aviator and was designed for iPhone 4/4S mobile phones. The packaging is similar to the one we have seen at previous cases from them. A small opening was made through the front plastic material in order to see how the finish does look like:
On the back side of the case, we will see a description of its main components:
Besides the case, we will also get a screen protector, along with a tiny soft cloth and a squeegee for removing the remaining air bubbles:
The case is divided into two parts; to dock the iPhone without removing the entire case, we will only have to remove the bottom component. Inside the case and on the edges we will find a rubberized finish:

The top and bottom sides are colored differently and sport a brushed aluminum finish:
The first step of the installation would be to insert the phone into the top component of the case; here we have met with a problem: the top side of the case holds the phone really tight and the top frame touches and presses a little against the screen protector. If we have a screen protector which is not bubble free on one of the sides, the case will eventually bend the protector during the slide movement and we’ll have to reapply it or replace the screen with a new, bubble free one. This situation can be also applied when we have a screen protector which did not have enough adhesive on one of the sides or in the corners, so no matter how much we would press on it with the squeegee, it still would not stick to the screen properly:

With the case fully installed, we have also taken some photos of the lateral sides and openings:
The case bottom and top combine beautifully and we can see nice contrast between the blue and grey brushed aluminum:
For the camera and flash LED we have a cut-out with a rubber finish ring:
The two-tone brushed aluminum case from Cygnett named Aviator has an overall nice look and the possibility to mount the phone into a dock without removing the entire case is a good addition. The thing we did not like was the fact that the top frame presses quite a lot on the screen protector and if this is not installed properly or has small issues on the corners, laterals, Aviator case may pick it up or bend it in those areas.
The case is almost as durable as the Metalicus. Why “almost”? Well, this is because after two weeks of normal usage we have spotted two small scratches on the left side of the brushed aluminum back.
For added value, Cygnett have also included a screen protector and all the necessary bundle like the squeegee and soft cloth for performing the installation without issues.
