Along with the Naos 7000, Mionix has also launched an ambidextrous model baptized Avior 7000. This product shares all the good features from the Naos, including the Avago ADNS-3310 IR-LED Optical Sensor which tracks with a maximum DPI of 7000, 128Kb of on-board memory for storing profiles, 4 rubber coating layers or illumination control via software.

Product Features, Specifications

Product Features:

Ambidextrous design

The ambidextrous ergonomic shape has been developed to be used by either right or left-handed gamers and to support a palm or claw grip.

Gaming grade optical sensor

The ADNS-3310 gaming grade optical sensor delivers no positive or negative hardware acceleration, amazing accuracy, smooth tracking, and a maximum speed of more than 5.45m/sec (215 IPS) all the way up to 7000DPI.

Lightning fast processor

The lightning fast ARM™ processor running at 32Mhz enables the mouse to have many features without compromising the tracking of the sensor.

Mechanical micro-switches

Engineered with Omron™ mechanical micro-switches for a responsive feel and precision quality with a 20 million click lifespan.

9 fully programmable buttons

The 9 fully programmable buttons can be assigned to any key, mouse command or macro, which is programmed via the downloadable software. You can also use the buttons to switch easily between stored profiles and DPI steps in-game without taking your eyes away from the screen.

Customizable LED lighting system

With up to 16.8 million color options, you can adjust the 2 lighting zones displaying a single color or color shift in a Solid, Blinking, Pulsating or Breathing lighting effect.

Maximum grip

The surface of the mouse is treated with 4 layers of a soft touch rubber coating. This highly durable surface ensures a maximum grip and soft touch feel.

S.Q.A.T™ – Surface Quality Analyzer Tool

Packaging, A Closer Look

Avior 7000 is one of the latest ambidextrous mice from Mionix; this one is shipped in a small cardboard box which sports the company logo, along with a snapshot of the product in operation:

On the back side we will be able to see a description of the main mouse components:

After the removal of the top packaging layer, we will discover that the interior is pretty simple organized; the mouse itself is covered with a thin transparent plastic mold and the cable is wrapped on the left side:

Besides the mouse we will also receive a small leaflet:

The previously mentioned document contains some words regarding the installation, customization and warranty. The manufacturer was careful to also include a small case sticker:

The mouse chassis is quite grippy and comfortable thanks to the soft-touch rubberized finish:

In the back we will be able to spot the Mionix logo, which has a multicolored LED underneath:

On the right side of the mouse we have two programmable buttons:

A Closer Look Contd.

Since this is an ambidextrous mouse, the left side usually sports the same functions, so here we have an additional of two programmable buttons:

Besides the usual left and right buttons and the rubberized scroll wheel, we will also get to see two extra buttons which are initially programmed to benefit from the 3-step on-the-fly DPI adjustment:

On the bottom side of the mouse we will spot right away the two large PTFE feet along with the central sensor lens; as the Naos 7000, the Avior features the latest Avago ADNS3310 sensor, which is capable of speeds up to 7000DPI (as the name of the mouse suggests) and 215IPS:

As with all high-performance gaming mice we have seen braided cables for additional durability and this model is no exception:

The USB port is branded and features gold-plated contacts for optimal signal:

Thanks to the downloadable software, besides many other things, we will be able to customize the mouse appearance by specifying the LED colors for both the scroll wheel and the back logo:

The Software Interface

Mionix not only gives us the possibility to use the extra functions of the mouse via the latest software version, but on their website we also have available a utility for flashing the latest firmware:

The software GUI of the Avior 7000 mouse is not too different compared to the one we have seen with the Naos 7000. Inside the Mouse Settings menu we have the ability to change functions for each and every mouse button, the pooling rate, double click speed, scroll speed, but also the pointer acceleration:

Here are the commands and functions we can assign:

The default commands are defined as the following:

Inside the Sensor Performance area we will be able to customize the DPI steps, define angle snapping and angle tuning, use the S.Q.A.T. too, define the pointer speed or set a custom lift distance:

The Surface Quality Analyzer Tool will help us find the tracking performance of the Avior 7000 on a specific surface:

From the Color Settings tab, we will be able to define custom colors, LED effects or which LEDs stay on at times:

The Macro settings tab will allow us to record numerous key combos, with or without the recording of delays and holds:

Finally, we have the Support tab, which allows us to consult the F.A.Q., contact customer support, access the product registration page or download the latest software versions:

Conclusive Thoughts

Since both Naos and Avior sport inside identical hardware, we are tempted to discuss more about the ambidextrous shape than the other features which were covered previously. Considering that we are fans of ambidextrous mice like the Razer Taipan, this one is no exception. We have quite a few programmable buttons available and the rubber finish with four coat layers offers a lot of comfort while maintaining a good grip. Some people may argue that with ambidextrous mice we sometimes hit by mistake the programmable buttons on the right side of the chassis; while with the Taipan we had some attempts to do this, on the Avior everything went smoothly. Anyhow, if you guys still the need to take precautions about this and do not use extra mouse macros or other shortcuts, you can easily disable the desired buttons via the included software.

Thanks to the newest 7000DPI ADNS-3310 IR-LED optical sensor, the mouse tracks wonderfully and the firmware has been also fine-tuned so we won’t get any positive or negative acceleration by default.

We would like to remind you guys again that even if the coating is of high quality and durable, rubber will still collect oils from our skin and we could expect after some weeks to see circular shapes in the areas the mouse will be touched most.

The Avior 7000 mouse model can be found online for about 99 Euros.
