Brando Nexus 7 II Protective Accessories Presentation

Other by stefan @ 2014-09-15

Brando has made available to Nexus 7 (2013) a lot of protective cases, screens and various accessories in order to use the product optimally while keeping it in mint conditions. All these are offered at low prices when compared to established brands and their quality has been increased quite a lot since our latest check-up.

Introduction

At first we would like to thank Brando Workshop for sending a set of Nexus 7 II Protective Cases to do a small presentation.

X-Shaped Plastic Back Case

We will begin our small presentation journey along with the X-Shaped Plastic Back Case from Brando, which costs no more than $10 and is available in eight different colors. The case is shipped inside a transparent plastic bag:

After we remove the dummy cardboard screen from inside the case, we will be able to inspect it much closer; the plastic is quite light, thin and of good quality and cutouts are present in all necessary places:

On its back we will be able to see the X-Shaped design:

On the top we have the speaker cut-out along with the camera orifice and also the headphone jack cutout:

The bottom welcomes us with two cut-outs for the speaker along with the USB port cutout:

The Power/Sleep buttons along with the Volume rocker are fully protected:

The mounting procedure is relatively easy since the plastic is more rigid and we have to make sure that all corners are a perfect fit:

Here are some additional shots with the tablet fitted inside the case:

Folio Case

Next we will take a look at the Folio Case (available for about $19) which features a more stylish design and the main material is synthetic leather. Four colors are available for this one too and as we can see from the photo, we have received the red one. As the case before it, this one also comes inside a transparent plastic bag:

The Folio Case looks quite nice and also incorporates a viewing stand:

Inside we will find soft material of the same color, so we won’t scratch the back surface of the tablet; the installation can be also done with ease, thanks to the Velcro tape:

With the cover closed, the tablet is protected optimally; this time we do not have small cut-outs on the sides, but the interfaces remain easy accessible:

On the back we have one orifice for the camera and also a longer cutout for the top speaker:

On the bottom side we have two small circle cutouts for each speaker drilled inside the material; because the speakers here are mostly covered by the case, the bottom speaker may sound a little muffled:

Leather Flip Case

Next we are going to check out the Leather Flip Case, which is one of our favorites and is available in six different color flavors; the case can be acquired for about $18, is made from synthetic leather and is shipped in a transparent plastic casing; this case also has docking abilities:

On the back side of the case we will be able to check out the main product features:

The magnetic top cover will help us getting the tablet in standby really quick when we do not work with it and the material is quite smooth, pleasant to the touch. We have found out though that it is quite easy to get scratched so we must be a little careful when manipulating it:

The case is a combination between a leatherette exterior and a hard plastic case on the inside; the tablet is easy to install inside the hard case but not so easy to remove:

Several cards can be placed into the designated spaces inside the top cover:

Here are some additional views of the hard cover cutouts:

Since the tablet and our sample case is also black, they fit quite perfectly together:

The bottom side USB connector is quite accessible; larger speaker cutouts are also present here so the resulting sound is not muffled:

The lateral cutouts fit perfectly with the tablet interfaces:

On the back we have a separate orifice for the camera:

Crocodile Plastic Case

One last case we have checked out is the Crocodile Plastic model, which is available from the Brando shop for about $20. As the case we have presented before, this one is shipped too inside a transparent plastic material case:

Even if the case is made from leatherette, it has a very good feel and seems like a premium build; the case is available in five different colors and the magnetic cover comes in very handy:

Docking abilities are present with this case too and inside we will get to see a similar hard case:

Inside the designated spaces, we will be able to fit several cards:

Here are also some close shots of the hard case openings:

As with the previous case, we have seen that the Nexus 7 tablet is quite easy to fit inside but not so easy to remove:

With the tablet installed inside the case, we will be able to show you again how it fits with some new shots:

A special cutout for the camera is to be found on the back:

Brando Screen Protectors

Brando was nice and has also offered some screen protectors; the Anti-Glare Screen Protector is available for about $12:

The protector comes packed inside a transparent plastic bag and features the usual covers for both front and back; to apply, we will recommend an ultra-clean lint-free cloth to clean up the tablet screen successfully and we also need to work inside a clean environment in order to avoid getting dust or other particles between the glass and the protective screen:

Same instructions are available for the Ultra Clear Screen Protector, which is available for about $13:

Brando brings down the heavy artillery with the Premium Tempered Glass. This one is a bit easier to attach compared to a simple plastic version and in order to avoid damages to it during transport, it is being supplied inside a specially designed case:

On the back side of the box we will get to see the application procedure:

The screen is enclosed inside protective foam for a good measure, along with a small dedicated bundle:

Besides the lint-free cloth, we are also getting two small stickers which aid dust removal if it is present on the back side of the glass protector:

The glass presents itself with a single adhesive side which will make direct contact with the screen of the tablet; this side is covered with a transparent plastic film, which must be removed prior to installation:

We had less hassles when working with the glass and the removal of lint was successful after using the supplied stickers; after the glass has been applied, we will get the same premium feel as using the actual tablet screen, with the exception that this one is now completely covered; the touch gestures work perfectly fine, nothing has been affected:

Conclusive Thoughts

This is not the first time we are using and presenting Brando cases for different gadgets; the quality of these products has been improved significantly while the prices remained almost the same, which is really good on the consumer side. Brando also has a very wide range of cases and protective screens available for a lot of devices but not only limited to these: we can also find battery chargers, cables, keyboards, adapters and more.

From the presented cases, we mostly enjoyed the last two since they did feature a magnetic top cover, while the tablet was held inside an internal hard case. If we want optimal screen protection, we also have the option to choose the Premium Tempered Glass, which offers the same feel as on the original screen, has round edges, has a hardness of 8 to 9H, Oleophobic coating and anti-shatter. The Premium Tempered Glass can be acquired online for about $33.

We would like to thank Brando again for making this review possible!
