MAX Pad

On March 2015, Rantopad peripherals launched a new upgraded pure alloy aluminum mousepad baptized Rantopad MAX.

The anti-slip back adopts the European standard ROHS of the environmental protection upgrade PU material, non-toxic and tasteless, skid resistance is better than natural rubber.

The back adopt round edge technology, completely protects the wrist, uses durable, is anti-aging resistant.

The aluminum front surface adopts high brightness bright border design.

MAX aluminum mousepad has a textured surface; solid aluminum greatly improves the wear resistance of the mouse pad itself.

The mouse pad 2mm ultra-thin thickness can be tightly attached to the desktop.

Just recently we have been requested by Rantopad, a Chinese peripheral brand, to take a look at some of their latest gaming gear and to be more precise the FF Gaming Mouse along with the MAX pure alloy aluminum mouse pad. As the official color Rantopad, the packaging of the FF Mouse comes with a lime color top:

 

 

 

On the bottom we get a drawing of the product, while the main components are explained in Chinese language:

 

 

 

Let’s see what we do have prepared inside:

 

 

 

The documentation is held in a separate envelope:

 

 

 

First we have the instruction manual, which is all written in Chinese:

 

 

 

Secondly, we will get to see a product manual, with a lot of interesting thematic product Rantopad is manufacturing:

 

 

 

The mouse is held secure between cardboard material so it won’t scratch or mode during transit:

 

 

 

Let’s remove the product from the packaging and take a closer look:

 

 

 

We have received the FF Mouse “lime” color version and it does also come with the manufacturer logo on the back; the mouse does sport a comfortable shape and it is advertised as manufactured with 3D printing technology:

 

 

 

The top surface offers a decent grip and the lack of a rubberized finish is a plus in our book since we have seen that in that case lint and skin oils are depositing much faster on the surface and are very hard to remove afterwards:

 

 

 

The lateral sides of the mouse are also made of plastic but this time of black color and the texture offers even more grip. On the left side Rantopad has placed two programmable buttons:

 

 

 

The right side is pretty much the same material, but since no extra buttons are present the comfort is good for resting the pinky:

 

 

 

In the frontal area we can take a closer look at the rubberized scroll wheel which is quite silent during use and the fact that the manufacturer is using a braided cable, which is quite unexpected for such a low priced product:

 

 

 

On the bottom area of the FF Mouse we have the Avago A3090 sensor lens and unlike any other similar products, the Polling Rate and DPI can be selected via switches and three steps are available for each. In each corner we do have small PTFE feet which resemble the ones found on cheaper OEM mice:

 

 

 

The USB connector has been slightly modified for compactness and Rantopad has also used gold plating for optimal contact:

 

 

 

FF Mouse does have lighting system enabled for both scroll wheel and back logo; an interesting “breathing” effect is to be observed when moving the mouse fast on the surface, when the pulsation frequency will increase:

 

 

 

 

The manufacturer has also sent along with the FF Mouse one large 370x260mm pure alloy mouse pad; the packaging of this product is similar to the one we have found with the FF:

 

 

 

Some details of the product in Chinese language are available on the back and here we can learn that the pad is available in two colors:

 

 

 

A similar internal packaging is also available here, with the Rantopad debossed logo in the middle:

 

 

 

The pad is also wrapped additionally in paper in order to avoid damages during transport:

 

 

 

The sample we have received was the silver one; in a short comparison with the ModMyMachine pad, which had a very smooth top surface, the MAX comes with a rougher texture, designed for better accuracy:

 

 

 

In the laterals as well in the corners, the machining quality is top notch:

 

 

 

The product logo resides on the top right side of the pad:

 

 

 

In order to avoid the mouse slipping on the table, the manufacturer has used PU material which is non-toxic and should last longer than natural rubber:

After plugging in the mouse to a spare USB port, we went on testing:

 

 

 

The FF Gaming Mouse from Rantopad is clearly not in the same league as the other high-end products we have tested in more recent reviews, but comes with good quality materials and is shape is quite comfortable to be used for many hours at a time. While most manufacturers nowadays like to leave the mouse performance customization via software, FF Mouse allows adjustment via two switches on its bottom, for Polling Rate and DPI. At the heart of the mouse we will find the proven Avago A3090 sensor, which can drive the DPI up to 3500.

This type of setup has its downsides because we have a limited DPI selection and we always have to switch the mouse on its back in order to perform the desired adjustments.

We have tested the mouse in the latest Call Of Duty Black Ops III, Fallout 4, Descent Underground (Early Access) but also in Star Wars The Old Republic, and the product has tracked without any issues.

The FF Gaming mouse can be picked up with other color schemes too, which is great and we rarely find this option available with other manufacturers.

 

Coming back to the MAX Pure Alloy Aluminum Mouse Pad, we were quite impressed with the quality of the build and thanks to the slightly textured surface, we have more precision of the movement, even if the noise when moving the mouse on the surface goes up by just a bit (like 1dBA higher when compared to the ModMyMachine smooth surface aluminum pad). PU material has been used on the back of the product for additional grip on the table; some people which do not have large desktop tables will surely go well with a smaller version of this pad (370x260mm) so this should go out as a suggestion to the manufacturer.

 

As we did say before, despite the good quality materials and the proven sensor in the case of the FF Mouse, the FF Gaming can be found online for just about $45 USD, while the MAX Pad is available for just $25.
