In this article we will look upon another Lexar USB 3.0 Flash Drive that does come with multiple capacities (16GB, 32GB, 64GB, 128GB and 256GB), does sport a catchy, colorful look and its convenient, integrated sliding mechanism design does make it ready to use in no time! As we have been accustomed before, the S57 USB 3.0 model does come in a simple and lightweight cardboard/plastic packaging and on the front, we can spot the rated read transfer speeds:

The JumpDrive S57 comes with a black plastic outer shell, an inner color-coded layer which does also differ depending on the capacity (16GB yellow, 32GB green, 64GB purple, 128GB teal, 256GB orange), while the sliding semi-transparent plastic cover makes sure the USB connector won’t get damaged during transit:

 

 

 

On the back side of the drive, we will get to see some serial numbers; here we do also have some orifices available for fitting a lanyard:

 

 

 

The protective cover can be removed from the connector in a couple of seconds, in order to get the drive ready to use:

To determine the flash drive read speeds, the HD Tune v5 utility was used; the read speeds are quite good with this particular model, while the writes are decent (when transferring data from mobile devices) as well for the 16GB variant:

To measure the real life performance, we have used the Total Commander application to copy to the flash drive and from the flash drive the same file and recorded the transfer speeds, after they have stabilized.

The Lexar Jumpdrive S57 comes with the EcryptStick Lite application preloaded to it, which is handy with protecting our personal information or other sensitive files. This security solution does come with 256-bit AES encryption:

 

 

 

After the first application launch, it will automatically search for updates:

 

 

 

The first step in using EcryptStick Lite is to provide a password of your own, which will act as a decoding key:

 

 

 

 

The user interface of the application is really easy to use; on the top area we have the file vault, where the encrypted files are located, while on the lower area we have access to the system resources (file manager) for moving files from or to the drive vault:

 

 

 

When moving files to the vault, they will be encrypted on-the-fly:

 

 

 

After we have copied the desired files to the vault, we can lock it by pressing the dedicated button:

 

 

 

The files will be unlocked only when the correct password is supplied:

 

 

 

The file vault does have a dedicated folder on the drive, but the information is coded, so without the necessary key, other unauthorized people cannot access it:

 

 

 

As we have seen with the S75 JumpDrive model, the S57 ships with multiple color schemes, for an easier drive capacity identification. The drive does come with a slim design and incorporates a protective sliding cover that is semi-transparent, for a catchier look. Regarding the performances, we can see decent write speeds and good reads for an USB 3.0 drive; depending on the SKU we will go with, the drive performances will also be different.

 

As we have seen with the other two drives we have tested recently, the S57 does ship with the EncryptStick Lite software, which allows 256-bit AES encryption of our important files in an easy to use process.

 

Regarding the drive prices, we can have the 16GB variant for about 11 Euros, the 32GB for about 12 Euros, the 64GB for about 29 Euros, the 128GB for about 44 Euros, while the 256GB can be had for 85 Euros. All products are backed by a 3-year limited warranty!
