CORSAIR ST100 Premium Headset Stand with 7.1 Surround Sound Review

Miscelleneous by stefan @ 2017-11-15

CORSAIR has created the ST100 not only for their VOID series of headsets, but works with any other models from different manufacturers. This is possible thanks to the dual USB 3.1 ports which can be used for charging your wireless headset, connecting the dongle, using other peripherals with it such as storage devices, smartphones and more! The analog jack output is possible thanks to the integrated sound card and its software allows 7.1 Surround Headphone mode, but also a customizable 10-band EQ.

Introduction

At first we would like to thank CORSAIR for offering us their ST100 Premium Headset Stand with 7.1 Surround Sound for testing and reviewing.

Packaging, A Closer Look

After the latest VOID headset series launch, CORSAIR thought of complementing these with a very useful accessory that carries the ST100 code name: we are basically talking about an aluminum stand which does feature RGB lighting, but also acts as an USB 3.1 hub and can be also used as a sound card. The product is shipped inside a medium-sized cardboard enclosure, that carries the usual CORSAIR color scheme:

The audio settings and RGB setup can be configured thanks to the well-known CORSAIR Utility Engine software, so the manufacturer is also describing this on one of the box sides:

Moving on, we will get to see the list of package contents, in many different languages:

The product is detailed further on the back side of the packaging:

Inside the box, we will get to see the headset stand protected with foam material, but also its bundle:

Speaking of the bundle, we are receiving one Quick Start Guide, a leaflet regarding environmental protection, but also one USB 3 cable:

The installation procedure is carefully detailed inside the manual:

In order to obtain a sturdy product, CORSAIR has gone with an aluminum construction, which also gives it a professional look:

A Closer Look Contd.

Inside the frame, we can spot a manufacturer logo, which is RGB-lit and can be configured separately from the base:

The base comes with an USB 3.1 port, that can be used for different purposes such as fitting the wireless dongle for your headset, charging your smartphone, connecting storage devices and so on:

This is not all! A second USB 3.1 port can be spotted on the right side of the stand base, which adds more connectivity options to the table; in order to accommodate non-USB headsets, a microphone/headphone combo jack is also available here:

In the back side of the stand, we’ve got the USB Micro-B 3.1 port:

A rubber layer is available on the bottom area of the stand, along with a large sticker, which accommodates the product code name, along with the serial number:

ST100 RGB works just fine with the CORSAIR VOID PRO RGB wireless gaming headset we did test previously:

Right after connecting the stand to a spare USB 3.1/3.0 port, the base will light up, along with the CORSAIR logo:

Corsair Utility Engine

As we have mentioned before, the ST100 RGB headset stand is driven by the CUE unified software; its interface is easy to use and tons of pre-programmed profiles are available for us to use on the CORSAIR forums. The profile selector is present on the left side, along with the Lighting Effects and EQ Presets menus; on the right side we can work with the selected option in detail:

Two different views can be selected for the ST100 and for each profile we can link a specific program, create and load a custom icon, but also a background image; the microphone volume is also adjustable here, along with the Stereo/7.1 Surround Headphone mode:

Lighting Effects of each profile can be customized in more detail by accessing the respective menu:

Moving on to the EQ Presets area, we can select one of the pre-programmed profiles or define new ones; these are great when working with the integrated soundcard of the stand:

Pure Direct

Movie Theater

FPS Competition

Clear Chat

Bass Boost

Video Exemplification of LED Lighting System

Conclusive Thoughts

CORSAIR has created the ST100 not only for their VOID series of headsets, but works with any other models from different manufacturers. This is possible thanks to the dual USB 3.1 ports which can be used for charging your wireless headset, connecting the dongle, using other peripherals with it such as storage devices, smartphones and more! The analog jack output is possible thanks to the integrated sound card and its software allows 7.1 Surround Headphone mode, but also a customizable 10-band EQ.

The chassis of the ST100 is entirely made of aluminum, which not only gives the product a professional look, but also increases its durability. ST100 can be integrated perfectly with the other available CORSAIR RGB products on your system thanks to the CUE unified software and the linked LED lighting effects really look awesome!

The ST100 RGB Headset Stand can be found online for about 64 Euros.

So, to sum it up:

-comes with an integrated sound card for analog output and can also emulate 7.1 surround

-the RGB lighting is quite catchy and easy to configure via CUE
