CHERRY GENTIX Silent Mouse Review

Mice & Keyboards by stefan @ 2018-03-29

The mouse is enough wide, but not too long, which makes it a little difficult to use for users with bigger hands. We did initially try the mouse on our 27’’ 2560x1440 display and the preset resolution of 1000 DPI was not enough but as soon as we did switch to a FHD laptop display, Gentix Silent has performed quite fine. The product is plug-and-play and does not require any additional software to function.

Introduction

At first we would like to thank CHERRY for sending out a sample of their GENTIX Silent Mouse for testing and reviewing.

Packaging, A Closer Look

CHERRY has recently launched another computer mouse, meant for usage inside offices; its main highlight is the use of no-click buttons, in order to minimize the noise generated by the peripherals.

The product packaging does follow an OEM-style; it does ship inside a small cardboard enclosure, with a photo of the product on the frontal layer:

A side view can be also observed nearby:

On the back side of the box we will get to see some product highlights, but also the package contents and system requirements:

After unsealing the packaging, we will get the mouse, along with some documentation:

The leaflet is written in different languages and here we will be informed on the installation procedure, but also some in-depth technical specifications:

Gentix Silent does come with a symmetrical design and its size of 112 x 68 x 35 mm does mostly recommend it for portable computers; its fixed resolution of 1000 DPI does not make it a product fit for gaming purposes, but should be fine for displays up to 1920x1080:

A Closer Look Contd.

In the frontal area of the product, we’ve got the left/right click buttons, but also the rubberized scroll wheel; the buttons do produce very little noise when actuated, similar to the touchpad click on some high-end laptops. The scroll wheel is also very silent, in both directions:

The top Gentix Silent finishing is made from a smooth black finish, which is meant to prevent scratches, and scuffing; the middle layer is more recessed, in a grey color and here we will get to see a grey logo:

On the side panels of the Gentix Silent, CHERRY has included rubber, so you can get more grip while holding the mouse in your hand:

The manufacturer has also included the “Gentix Silent Precision” writing on the left button, in order to identify it much easier:

On the bottom layer of the mouse, CHERRY has included PTFE feet, so the mouse will slide optimally on the surfaces we will use it on; the central sensor lens along with a sticker that holds the product serial number, but also the power rating can be also spotted here:

As we have seen with many other peripherals meant for offices, the USB cable is not braided:

The cable ends with a standard USB connector:

Impressions and Conclusive Thoughts

The mouse is enough wide, but not too long, which makes it a little difficult to use for users with bigger hands. We did initially try the mouse on our 27’’ 2560x1440 display and the preset resolution of 1000 DPI was not enough but as soon as we did switch to a FHD laptop display, Gentix Silent has performed quite fine. The product is plug-and-play and does not require any additional software to function.

The main point of attraction of this specific model are the silent switches for the left and right mouse buttons, which makes it ideal in offices with lots of people; if you do work with a lot of sheets, browse documents, the web, and do not want to spend a lot, Gentix Silent may be for you!

Speaking of the product affordability, CHERRY Gentix Silent can be purchased online for just about 8.47 Euros!
