TEAMGROUP T1 DDR4 GAMING 2x8GB DDR 2666 Memory Kit Review

Memory by stefan @ 2019-06-09

The latest T-FORCE T1 memory kits from TEAMGROUP are designed for mainstream computers but also entry-level machines but even in this case, the manufacturer has used pre-screened IC chips in order to avoid stability issues and also feature pre-programmed XMP 2.0 profiles. At this price you are not getting RGB lighting or a heatspreaders (at the advertised speeds it won’t be mandatory anyways), but the modules still look quite interesting thanks to the white/red ink used on the PCB.

Introduction

At first we would like to thank TEAMGROUP for offering a sample of their T1 DDR4 Gaming Memory Kit (2x8GB 2666Mhz) for testing and reviewing.

Product Features, Specifications

Product Features:

Easy to get started. Top choice for players

To make it easy for beginner-level gamers to get started, the T-FORCE team introduces the entry-level gaming memory – T1. No matter if you are an enthusiastic DIY PC user or an entry-level gamer, you can build up your PC with your own style easily and ready to battle at any time.

Exclusive patent. Special ink

The T-FORCE design team uses special ink and printing process to place the main features of the gaming memory directly on the PCB board of DDR4 memory. The ink is still perfectly intact after being strictly tested in high temperature environment. The racing style is eye-catching and makes gamers exciting.

Selected IC chips. Stable and durable

Every IC chip made for TEAMGROUP desktop memory is selected through a rigorous testing process. Every memory is again tested for complete compatibility and stability. This offers gamers a memory with excellent quality, optimal performance, stability and compatibility.

High performance, low power consumption and upgrade easily

In addition to the increase in data transfer rate, the basic working voltage of the new generation of DDR4 memory is also decreased to 1.2V. This desktop memory is energy saving, high performance and low power consumption.

Supports Intel XMP and auto overclocking

T-FORCE T1 DDR4 gaming memory is plug and play ready. Overclocking can be super easy without the hassle of manually adjusting the BIOS. It is compatible to both Intel & AMD platform, therefore gamers can build their system without worries.

T-FORCE

T-FORCE is TEAM force. The red “T” on the logo of “TF” represents TEAMGROUP’s passion for the storage products. The black “F” represents TEAMGROUP’s over 18 years of promotion of storage products. The visual design of the perfect combination elegantly symbolizes a pair of flying wings. They represent that the high quality and extreme performance gaming products from TEAMGROUP are capable of allowing all gamers to break the speed limit and enjoy the ever-changing world of gaming.

Packaging, A Closer Look

In this review we will concentrate our attention upon one of the latest addition of the T-FORCE line-up from TEAMGROUP and to be more exact the T1 DDR4 Gaming memory. The kits do not house a heatspreader or RGB lighting, but do feature a special ink and printing process that is heat resistant.

The 16GB kit we have received for testing has arrived in a simple plastic packaging, holding the two modules:

On the back side, we will be able to take a look at a small description regarding the T-FORCE series, the main product highlights but also the product internal code name:

As a bundle, we will receive a small T-FORCE case sticker, along with an informational leaflet:

Besides some explanations regarding the offered lifetime warranty, the manufacturer does show the installation process for desktop PCs; this is a universal leaflet, since SODIMM installation for laptops is explained as well:

Even without a flashy RGB setup, the modules look quite interesting thanks to the special ink design:

TEAMGROUP invokes a “racing style” with this particular kit that may match with some motherboard designs:

On one of the module sides (the one that contains the ICs), we will also spot a small sticker with the module code name, total RAM quantity, rated RAM speed, CAS latencies but also the rated operating voltage:

A Closer Look Contd.

The red/white design elements are present on the top side of the module:

The RAM ICs are marked as T4D10248HT-266:

The opposite side of the module does not feature any other ICs, but we can admire its beauty thanks to the special ink with larger fonts:

Let’s install this particular kit into our test system and check out the performance:

Test Setup and Test Results Part I

Test Setup

CPU: Intel i7 9700K Retail

CPU Cooler: Deepcool Captain 240 EX RGB AIO

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z370 AORUS Ultra Gaming

RAM: Currently tested kit

Video: KFA2 GeForce GTX 1060 OC 6GB

Power Supply: Cooler Master 850W

SSD: OCZ Vector 150

Case: Cooler Master ATCS 840

The pre-programmed timings and frequencies can be also found by using AIDA64; the DRAM IC manufacturer is listed as SK Hynix:

From the stock DDR4-2666 18-18-18-43 specs, we tried a bit of overclocking as well: by setting a voltage of 1.35V, we have managed to climb the frequency up to 2933MHz and adjusted the timings to 20-20-20-47 in order to be Memtest stable:

Starting with the JEDEC 2133MHz, we did benchmark the RAM step-by-step up to its stock 2666MHz frequency, in order for you to spot the performance differences. We did also benchmark until the maximum stable frequency of 2933, but because of the increased CAS latencies, only some applications took advantage of the increased bandwidth.

Conclusive Thoughts

The latest T-FORCE T1 memory kits from TEAMGROUP are designed for mainstream computers but also entry-level machines but even in this case, the manufacturer has used pre-screened IC chips in order to avoid stability issues and also feature pre-programmed XMP 2.0 profiles. At this price you are not getting RGB lighting or a heatspreaders (at the advertised speeds it won’t be mandatory anyways), but the modules still look quite interesting thanks to the white/red ink used on the PCB.

The ink printing process and composition is heat resistant, so it won’t degrade in time due to higher temperatures inside the system; if you have some case lighting already set up or your motherboard is equipped with RGB goodness, then the cool design of these modules can be admired as well, through a plexiglass window.

With a bit of tweaking, we were able to raise the RAM frequency up to 2800MHz and were able to obtain a small performance boost in most test applications; at 2933 we were forced to increase the timings more, so the overall performance was not really that impressive.

The T1 DDR4 Gaming Memory is available with frequencies of 2400MHz and 2666Mhz; we can purchase single modules of 4GB, 8GB or kits of 2x4GB and 2x8GB.

The tested kit is now available online for about 90 Euros.
