Dream Machines DM1 FPS Gaming Mouse Review

Mice & Keyboards by stefan @ 2019-08-08

The DM1 FPS mouse from Dream Machines is the first product we are reviewing that uses Huano switches for the left/right click buttons; these require a bit more force to actuate and offer a nice, tactile feel when used; this feature actually reduces accidental clicks and are rated for about 20 million clicks. In terms of the used optical PMW3389 sensor, which we have seen on many Razer mice before and we have not encountered any issues when tracking while playing games such as Wolfenstein: The New Colossus, Defiance 2050 or Mass Effect Andromeda. The overall comfort is enhanced thanks to the use of a really unique, flexible cable and low weight of just 83g.

Introduction

At first we would like to thank Dream Machines for offering a sample of their DM1 FPS Gaming Mouse for testing and reviewing.

Product Features

Designed by the Best for the Best

Our products are used by players around the world. We have always tried to create mice that will be universal and independent of the titles they play and can receive exactly what will allow them to get the best results. This time we decided on something else: we created a mouse for FPS players. This is a mouse whose goal is to be the best gaming mouse for all those who play such titles as Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Rainbow Six, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Players Unknown BattleGrounds, or Overwatch. To achieve this, we completely remodeled our components and chose the ones that, according to the FPS players, are the best for shooters.

Sensor Created for Headshots!

Aim, press, and grab the frag. It's so easy and yet so devilishly difficult. By using one of the best sensors available on the PixArt 3389 market, getting more frags has never been so easy. Precision Achieve your goals with the new DM1 FPS.

Huano Buttons - High Speed Response Time

Every time we work on a new product, we contact hundreds of people to find out exactly what they expect from their gaming gear. We know that competitive gamers need the absolute best, and that is why our goal is to offer you the best solution in the market. According to your feedback, Huano switches work much better during long gaming sessions and help you get to the top of the ladder in your favourite FPS. For this reason, we have decided to use Huano switches instead of Omron. The lifetime of the switches remains the same: 20 million clicks.

New Shoelace Cable at Your Disposal

Do you know why this type of cable is called "shoelace"? Because while playing you do not feel that is there! Extremely light and flexible, it is exactly what Counter Strike or Overwatch players need. No more cable jams on the pad, no more inconvenience. DM1 FPS with invisible cable is a new, higher level of comfort while playing!

The Optimal Amount of DPI for All Players

The PixArt 3389 sensor is not only precision, speed, and reliability, but also a wide range of mouse sensitivity settings. From now on your favorite DM1 FPS, you can play in resolutions up to 16,000 DPI! Now nothing will stop you! All games, even those requiring the greatest reflexes will stop being a problem for you thanks to DM1 FPS with the PixArt 3389 sensor. Winning games has never been so easy!

LOD – the Perfect Distance for FPS Players

We know how important it is for the LOD to be at the optimal level, that's why we chose to have ~1.8 mm for our players. Low LOD will allow you to move your mouse effortlessly without unwanted movements that could ruin the chance of a perfect headshot.

83 Grams - Ideal Weight for Shooters

We have listened to your votes and created color alternatives for DM1 FPS. Thanks to that everyone will play more accurately on the mouse they want! Choose a Blood Red color if you're a fan of a dynamic ride without hold and you are not looking for compromises! Ocean Blue is a color for fans of self-control, perfect for all snipers for whom AWP is the ultimate weapon! Noir is a mouse for those who are looking for the perfect combination of aesthetics and elegance. Blizzard White is a solution for those who value simplicity and sophistication. Choose one of four available variants and enjoy the gameplay at the highest level thanks to DM1 FPS!

Acceleration - Zero Compromises

Once again, we decided on a solution familiar to all Dream Machinery brand fans, ie zero acceleration. Thanks to this, we ensure the greatest freedom of action and certainty that the DM1 FPS mouse will do exactly what we want during an intense game.

Four Variations - DM1 FPS in Your Favorite Flavor

Each gaming mouse must have the appropriate parameters. The best sensor that gives precision and speed of reaction. Special buttons that can withstand thousands of hours of intense gameplay, as well as the right shape and weight. For this reason, the FPS model weighs only 83 grams to ensure the highest comfort during the game.

Adjust it to yourself

DM1 FPS also has dedicated software that allows you to do even more. Thanks to it, you can configure your mouse freely. Change your polling rate, adjust DPI or change the way of highlighting. This and much more is available with the DM1 FPS mouse software!

DM1 FPS - The Best Friend for Shooter Expert

DM1 FPS is a mouse that was created to provide a unique experience to every maniac of popular shooters. Quick, precise, no restrictions - this is the latest mouse from the Dream Machines family. Top sensor, reliable buttons, and a unique cable will not only provide the best control and speed but also the highest comfort during exciting games. Product Specifications

Packaging, A Closer Look

In this article we will cover another interesting gaming mouse, manufactured by a company that we haven’t cooperated with before and is not known in a lot of countries: Dream Machines. Its name is DM1 FPS and sports a familiar, simple design, ideal for First Person Shooter enthusiasts. Besides the low weight, the mouse does also feature one of the most flexible cables we have seen so far, making you think that you would actually use a wireless product.

Simplicity is the name when checking out the product packaging as well, with a drawing of the mouse layout on the top cover:

On one of box sides, we will get to see the Dream Machines logo:

The bottom layer of the mouse is described on the back of the packaging, together with some technical highlights:

After lifting the top cover, we will get to see the small product leaflet, which acts as a Quick Installation Guide:

With some simple drawings, the user is instructed on how to get everything up and running, but some hints are also offered regarding the usage modes:

Besides the DM1 FPS, we will also receive bundle, comprised of a fresh set of PTFE feet:

The PTFE feet are manufactured by 3M:

We did say that the DM1 FPS does sport a familiar look, because it is very similar to the SteelSeries Sensei that we have reviewed quite some time ago; it comes with an ambidextrous design, but buttons are present only on the left side. The top area of the chassis is coated with a shiny paint that offers a good grip and given the mouse size (126 x 68 x 39 mm), we would mostly see it used with a claw grip:

On the curved portion of the chassis, we will be able to spot a black Dream Machines logo, that looks interesting on the Blood Red background:

A Closer Look Contd.

The rubberized scroll wheel is the only RGB-lit segment; near it we will find one of the programmable buttons (set for DPI cycling):

On the left side panel we’ve got a rubberized finish, along with two more programmable buttons:

The right side is identical, minus the programmable buttons:

On the bottom layer of the product we can find a sticker with the power rating and the serial number, three large PTFE feet but also the central PixArt PMW3389 sensor lens, which were initially exclusive to Razer mice. The DPI can be set between 200 and 16000, in increments of 200, while the available polling rates are 125, 250, 500 and 1000 Hz:

As we have mentioned, before, the braided cable is hands down the most flexible we have seen with a mouse and it really resembles a sport shoe lace:

The USB port is quite standard and does not feature any additional branding:

Right after we have connected the mouse to a spare USB port, we could see the RGB lighting in the scroll wheel area:

The Software GUI

The Dream Machines GUI for this particular mouse does throw in all available control settings at once, without the need to navigate via multiple tabs; here we do have the Key Function area, the Editor for macros, the Report Rate area, the DPI step settings, but also the RGB lighting options:

The Key Function area opens a separate menu and from here we can choose a different variety of options:

The Macro editor does list the currently programmed macros on the left side, while on the right we will be able to record new ones:

As soon as we do create new macros, these will be selectable from the Macro Function area for mapping purposes:

The System Setting area does allow the user to edit different speed options:

In case of the RGB lighting, this menu is very simple and only allows working with a few presets:

Impressions and Conclusive Thoughts

In terms of chassis layout, Dream Machines has went with a safe, proven design that could be also found with the earlier SteelSeries Sensei models; since it is a medium-sized mouse, it is mostly used with a claw grip, but people with smaller hands might be able to use it with a palm grip as well.

The control software does have quite a basic look, but allows the gamer to find the controls right away, all from the same screen, without the use of multiple configuration tabs. In terms of RGB lighting, since we are dealing with a single RGB-lit area, there is not much to configure, but only some pre-defined profiles can be selected for your enjoyment.

The only negative point we have found about this mouse is that it does not have a dedicated sniper button, easily accessible with the thumb finger, for precise kills in FPS games.

The DM1 FPS mouse can be found online for as low as 47.5 Euros.
