Dream Machines DM5 Blink Gaming Mouse Review

Mice & Keyboards by stefan @ 2019-11-12

Since this model is using the same PixArt 3389 sensor and Huano switches for the left/right buttons with an endurance of 20 million clicks as with the DM1 FPS, we have had similar experience when gaming in RAGE 2, Dead Space 3 and Diablo 3. The reliable sensor can track optimally without additional acceleration while the mouse weight along with the shoelace cable do complete the experience. An interesting addition is the hardware button for turning off the lighting completely in just a few seconds, while the Basilisk-like DM Shot button is easy reachable for actions that need to be performed quickly, such as Sniper.

Introduction

At first we would like to thank Dream Machines for offering a sample of their DM5 Blink Gaming Mouse for testing and reviewing.

Product Features

Precision is the Foundation of Success

When your winnings depend on one click, one mouse gesture, one decision; there is no room for errors. That's why DM5 Blink will never let you down with the PixArt 3389 sensor. Surgical precision and devilish speed of action are all provided by DM5 Blink. Never again to be beaten by anyone. Acceleration - Excluded. Why? Acceleration is a great choice for office workers whose mice have the task of moving from the center of the screen to its brim as soon as possible. As has already been mentioned - a great thing. But not for players-players require precision. You cannot be uncertain about how far your cursor can move. This uncertainty is a matter of “life and death” in games.

A Full Spectrum of Possibilities

DM5 Blink, thanks to the use of the PixArt 3389 sensor, provides a range of DPI up to 16,000! As a result, even the most demanding players will find the perfect settings that will allow them to achieve the highest scores while playing. Highest precision with just one click! In addition, we have also used two other technologies to make sure that the game will be even more enjoyable. Prediction - Also has been turned off. Like acceleration, this is a nice thing for people whose activity is associated with using the mouse ends in Paint. But if you're a player, you want even the slightest left or right movement to be visible on the screen. Smoothing - Almost off. This is another one of the facilities designed to equalize the motion of the sensor and hide all delays. Of course, in the case of DM5, the delays are negligible, close to zero, and that's why we do not need smoothing that could distract the players. Simply put - the only movement you will observe is the movement that only You make!

Reliable Buttons Guarantee Success While Playing

There is nothing worse than a stuck click. Many standard mice, in addition to the very weak sensor, have even worse buttons which often jam and after two months are not suitable for anything. That's why we've chosen the best Huano buttons on the market that have a lifespan of 20 million clicks! What does this mean in practice? Your DM5 buttons will always be ready for operation for several thousand hours. Finish the limitations, put on reliability.

A Perfect Distance to the Highest Comfort

"We know how important it is to have the LOD be at an optimum level, which is why we guarantee our players ~ 1.8 mm. Low LOD will allow for smooth movement of the DM5 Blink mouse without unwanted movements, which could undermine the chance of that perfect headshot!

DM Shot - An Additional Button With Even More Options

Sometimes you have the impression that you need that one extra button to immediately throw a grenade or make a perfect guess and do a headshot? With DM Shot from now on, you never lose a moment of hesitation, which could affect the outcome of the duel. DM Shot is placed under the thumb to allow you to be faster than other players. In addition, for the convenience of users, they can enable seamless removal of DM Shot when not needed.

The Weight is Ideal for Rodents

"Every gaming mouse must have the right parameters, the best sensor that ensures precision and speed of reaction, special buttons that withstand thousands of hours of intense gameplay, as well as the right shape and weight." For this reason, the Blink weighs only 95 grams to provide the best comfort during the game.

A Practically Wireless Mouse

"The DM5 also has a shoelace cable loved by everyone, extremely flexible, and virtually undetectable while playing. It's the perfect combination of all the best in a wireless mouse and wired mouse.

Look! RGB, Everywhere RGB!

"The DM5 Blink model is also the launch of a new series of brightened mice, which not only allows you to achieve elite results during the game, but also provides a perfect aesthetic experience… thanks to the ability to configure up to 16 million colors! Naturally, for all people who do not like bright colors, it is possible to set a more subdued color thanks to our software.

Match It to Yourself

Dream Machines software allows you to not only change the color of the backlight, but also provides you with hundreds of configurations of such parameters as DPI, Polling Rate, and macro settings. All this is available-thanks to a few clicks!

The Details are Key

Our mice are prepared for the best players in their profession. Professionals need a reliable tool to win and help them become a better version of themselves every day. Therefore, Dream Machines mice have zero acceleration and smoothing. Thanks to this, players have control over what happens to them during the game. Full control, precision, and reliability.

Product Specifications

Packaging, A Closer Look

After looking at the very affordable DM1 FPS gaming mouse, Dream Machines has sent us another model packing the PixArt 3389 optical sensor, which is named DM5 Blink.

The product is shipped inside a compact cardboard box, with a photo of the mouse on the top cover, highlighting the RGB characteristics:

On the sides we will only get the product name logo:

In the back, the manufacturer does list the main features, such as the inclusion of the PixArt 3389 sensor, Huano switches for the left/right buttons, the maximum DPI the sensor does support but also the fact that we can choose 16M color combinations for the RGB enabled areas:

Inside the box, we will get to see that the mouse along with its bundle is shipped inside a black plastic mold, with a transparent cover; Dream Machines has also included a small leaflet with instructions:

Let’s get the mouse and bundle outside the protective layer and take a closer look:

As we have seen with the previous item from Dream Machines, the manufacturer does not omit to offer a separate set of PTFE feet, in case the current ones do wear out:

The DM5 Blink does share some design elements with the Razer Basilisk; named DM Shot, the extra button is placed under the thumb and can be used for different quick actions (such as Sniper); besides the button pre-installed on the mouse, we are also getting a different one for replacement:

A Closer Look Contd.

In the case we do not use this feature, Dream Machines is also offering a rubber cover:

The all-black mouse does feature a comfortable grip (we used it with a claw grip in our testing) and does weight only 95 grams without the included cable:

Between the left/right buttons with Huano switches, we get two additional buttons, but also the obligatory RGB-enabled scroll when, which is quite silent in use:

In the back, Dream Machines has included their RGB-enabled logo:

On the left side, we can observe that the plastic for resting our thumb does feature parallel channels, through which LED light will shine though; here we do also have two more programmable buttons, but also the DM Shot clutch we did remind about earlier:

The right area does feature a similar channel design, but without additional programmable buttons:

On the bottom area of the DM5 Blink we will be able to spot the central PixArt 3389 optical sensor lens, the Polling Rate selector but also a feature that we did not see with other mice before -> a switch that turns off the LED lighting electrically. In case you need to turn off the lighting, you have the easy feature to use this switch, instead of installing the application and fiddling with the included options:

One other feature that DM1 FPS did also use is the shoelace cable which is very flexible and it feels like you would be using a wireless mouse:

The cable ends up with a standard USB cable:

The Software Interface Part I

The downloadable utility for the DM5 Blink is pretty straight-forward and very easy to use; we do have the left area for button programming and Macros and the Profile selector. On the right we have the DPI Setting area with all available levels, Lighting configurator, the Mouse Parameter area for customizing different other options but also the Polling Rate menu:

The side lighting looks impressive thanks to the dedicated channels:

Conclusive Thoughts

The overall plastic quality does not feel as premium as with the offerings from SteelSeries, CORSAIR or Razer but it really gets the job done. If the mouse is used intensively, after a while the PTFE feet will eventually wear off and the extra supplied kit is quite welcome.

The DM5 Blink mouse can be found online for about 39 Euro.
