Dream Machines DM2 Supreme Gaming Mouse Review

Mice & Keyboards by stefan @ 2020-06-26

After customizing the DPI steps for a bit and adjusting the report rate to 1000Hz, we have started some sessions in Final Fantasy XIV, Smite but also Mafia II Definitive Edition. The sensor did track flawlessly, and we did really enjoy the comfortable shape of the DM2 Supreme. The mouse uses a rubberized, grippy coating on the whole surface but this one also picks up quite a bit of skin oils and dust, which are quite difficult to clean up.

Introduction

At first we would like to thank Dream Machines for offering a sample of their DM2 Supreme Gaming Mouse for testing and reviewing.

Product Features, Specifications

Product Features:

The Version Everyone Has Been Waiting For!

It's the highest quality, the best parameters, and ultimate reliability. You've been waiting for the latest version of DM2 Comfy, that's the DM2 Supreme. Better, more precise and more convenient than any competitor. We're incredibly proud of this model! This is a mouse created “by professionals for professionals."

Reach for the best - PixArt 3389 sensor.

When your winnings depend on one click, one mouse move, one decision, there is no room for mistakes. That's why DM2 Supreme will never let you down with the PixArt 3389 sensor. DM2 Supreme provides surgical precision and devilish speed of action. Never be defeated again! Acceleration - Off. Why? Acceleration is a great choice for office workers whose mice are designed to move from the center of the screen to its edges as soon as possible. As already mentioned - a great thing. It's just that players do require precision. You can't be uncertain how far your cursor can move. This ignorance is a “matter of life and death” in games.

Comfort and reliability above all.

DM2 Supreme is a model that has been designed for all who are looking for a comfortable mouse with the best parameters and a unique cable that ensures the highest quality. The best gameplay and greatest comfort distinguish our new DM2 Supreme from all others!

LOD - a perfect distance for the mouse.

We know how important LOD is at an optimal level, which is why we guarantee ~ 1.8 mm to our players. Low LOD will allow you to easily move the mouse without unwanted movements that could ruin the chance of a perfect headshot.

Packaging, A Closer Look

One of the last mice we are going to review from Dream Machines is the DM2 Supreme, which comes with a larger footprint versus the previous models we have looked at. This is basically an upgrade over the DM2 Comfy S, for right-handed use with a palm grip. The sensor choice for this model is the Pixart PMW3389, which can be also found with the DM1 FPS, while the left/right buttons feature mechanical switches from Huano, as we have seen with the previous models from Dream Machines.

The product is shipped inside a medium-sized cardboard enclosure (for a mouse), which features simple drawings of the model on the exterior layer:

On the bottom area, we will also get to see a drawing of the mouse design, but with specifications regarding the sensor model and the maximum tracking DPI:

Inside the box, we will find a small guide leaflet, but also the main product as well:

Inside the leaflet, we are getting some instructions via drawings, including maintenance and PTFE feet replacement:

Of course, we will also get a set of replacement mouse feet:

Let’s take a closer look at the DM2 Supreme!

The mouse presents itself with a large footprint, allowing a rather generous rest area for the ring finger, while the rubber coating does enhance the grip and allows it to be comfortable during long usage sessions:

A Closer Look Contd.

In the front, we’ve got a RGB-enabled scroll wheel with rubber coating, but also the usual left/right click buttons; the same Huano switches are used as with other Dream Machines mice, which sport a rating of 20M actuations:

The two buttons in the vicinity of the scroll wheel are pre-programmed for offering easy DPI step cycling:

On the left side, we will find the rest area for the thumb finger, but also two programmable buttons in a black color:

The curved back of the DM2 Supreme is also fitted with a RGB-enabled manufacturer logo:

Here is a closer look on the right side, mainly designed for resting our fingers but does not feature any other programmable buttons:

On the bottom area, we do have four black Teflon feet pre-installed, with irregular shapes. In the middle there is the Pixart PMW3389 sensor lens, capable of tracking up to 16000 DPI and a Polling rate of 1000Hz. While the 3389 is not exactly new, it is one of the most proven sensors on the market and the implementation on the DM2 Supreme is no exception:

The shoelace cable is very flexible and really makes you think that you would be using a wireless version:

While the USB connector does not feature any fancy customization, the gold plating allows for a better contact:

With this model, Dream Machines has not used independent RGB zones or even more in-depth customization, the only colors we can set are those associated with the DPI steps and the mouse will use a breathing effect and not static mode:

The Software GUI

The DM2 Supreme can be configured in more detailed thanks to the dedicated application; after flashing the mouse firmware to the latest version we went ahead and opened the GUI. In the main section, we can re-map the button functions, but also adjust the DPI steps along with the color for each individual step:

Here is the function list which we can use for any programmable button:

New profiles can be saved to the drive by pressing on the “CONFIG” button:

Mouse Settings and Macros can be checked out from the same area; here we can modify the Mouse Speed, Double Click Speed, LoD, the Scroll Speed but also the Report rate (Polling Rate):

The Macro Editor section allows different run options as well, and we can also choose if we should enable delay or not:

Impressions and Conclusive Thoughts

After customizing the DPI steps for a bit and adjusting the report rate to 1000Hz, we have started some sessions in Final Fantasy XIV, Smite but also Mafia II Definitive Edition. The sensor did track flawlessly, and we did really enjoy the comfortable shape of the DM2 Supreme. The mouse uses a rubberized, grippy coating on the whole surface but this one also picks up quite a bit of skin oils and dust, which are quite difficult to remove.

The software application is quite straight-forward in terms of sensor parameters and button configuration, but it does lack an individual RGB lighting tab, in order to have more control over the RGB-enabled areas.

For just about 35 Euros, we are getting a very capable sensor which can track up to 16000DPI, an extra set of PTFE feet for replacement but also a 1.7m shoelace cable which makes the mouse movements feel very smooth. This is not the lightest mouse model we have reviewed (at about 94 grams) but its decent considering its large size/footprint.
