Other by stefan @ 2021-02-04

The Superior Pro Colorful U3 512GB card has obtained great performances in our speed tests, trailing the 256GB variant. 4K recording is no issue at these speeds and 512GB is nice to have when recording lots of hours from a single session. Additionally, the card is dustproof, waterproof, temperature-proof and X-ray-proof for use in extreme environments and is equipped with ECC functions as well.

Introduction

We would like to thank at first Silicon Power for supplying their Superior Pro microSDXC UHS-I Colorful U3 512GB Card for testing and reviewing.

Packaging, A Closer Look

In this article we will concentrate our attention upon another Silicon Power Superior Pro microSDXC UHS-I card from the Colorful series, 512GB capacity. The model is rated in order to meet the UHS Speed Class 3 and the UHS Video Speed Class 30 standards for 4K UHD video recording. The manufacturer notes that the card can obtain speeds of up to 100MB/s in terms of reads and about 80MB/s in terms of writes.

The 512GB model is packed inside a simple cardboard enclosure with a plastic layer where we can find two compartments, one with the product and the other one with the microSD adapter:

On the back we will note a short product description in multiple languages, some technical details but also the internal code name and the product SN:

The plastic layer does separate the two components, so they won’t get damaged during transit:

With the inclusion of the microSD adapter, we get compatibility over a larger range of devices:

A write lock button is also available on the left side:

The color scheme of the 512GB is different to the one we have found with the 256GB model, but with the same inscriptions:

On the back side of the card we will find the 8 gold-plated feet:
