Silicon Power XPOWER Zenith DDR4 32GB 3200MHz Gaming Memory Kit Review

Memory by stefan @ 2021-08-09

The mainstream XPOWER Zenith 3200MHz C16 32GB memory kit from Silicon Power offers enough performance and memory quantity for the majority of tasks, while the non-RGB design can go hand-in-hand with systems that do not have a plexiglass/glass lateral panel. The heatsink layout is the same as with the RGB version, with the wavy brushed aluminum styling but also the top plastic light component (but this time the LEDs are missing).

Introduction

We would like to thank at first Silicon Power for supplying their XPOWER Zenith DDR4 32GB 3200MHz Gaming Memory Kit for testing and reviewing.

Product Features, Specifications

Product Features:

Optimized For Hardcore Gamers And Modders

Ranging from blazing speeds of 3200MHz to 4133MHz with low 1.35V – 1.4V power consumption, the Zenith allows for gameplay at the highest settings with automatic overclocking. Its fully optimized testing ensures complete compatibility on most leading high-end motherboards to support the most hardcore gamers and modders.

A Sharp Design That Stays Cool

This iron grey colored heat spreader with a textured hairline finish results in a sharp and eye-catching design that is balanced by soft curves. The durable aluminum promotes maximum heat dissipation and thermal management, which prevents overheating and results in longer playtime.

Low Profile, High Performance

The Zenith was designed with a low profile to fit in compact set-ups, but it's packed with high performance. DDR4 technology is up to twice as fast as its predecessor, DDR3, delivering more bandwidth and more energy efficiency to push beyond standard limits.

Play To Your Heart's Content: Lifetime Warranty

The Zenith has up to 10 layers of PCBs for superior signal quality and is 100% factory-tested to guarantee high stability, durability, and compatibility. Packaging, A Closer Look

In this article we will concentrate our look upon a mainstream 2x16GB 3200MHz C16 memory kit from Silicon Power, which does not feature RGB lighting. The model is named XPOWER Zenith and is basically the same as the RGB counterpart minus the LEDs on the top of the module. The kit comes inside a sealed blister packaging, which basically becomes unusable after you first open it (in case you need to keep the modules in storage for some time):

On the back side of the packaging, we will note that Silicon Power mentions the existence of a XMP profile, in multiple languages; we will also note the product code name, serial number and email addresses to contact support:

The inside document also comes with the User Guide and Warranty Information:

As expected, the 32GB kit is composed of two separate DIMMs:

The heatspreader of the Zenith XPOWER modules have a nice, premium brushed aluminum design in gunmetal color. The middle area features a white XPOWER logo as well:

In the top right corner, we do have the product description “DDR4 Gaming Memory”:

The opposite side is basically identical, but a separate sticker is attached as well:

Here we will note the product code name, the serial number, its running specs but also its capacity:

A closer look on the side shows that the memory ICs are placed in the lower area of the DIMM, the upper zone being reserved for the RGB LEDs (when applicable):

When looked from the top, we will note the heatspreaders’ unique wavy design, but also a middle opaque plastic layer with the XPOWER logo in the middle:

The pre-programmed timings and frequencies can be also found by using AIDA64; the DRAM IC manufacturer is listed as Samsung:

Here is the memory operating status as confirmed by CPU-Z:

Besides testing the memory modules at XMP timings, we have also compared the results with the ones obtained at 2133, 2400, 2666 and 3000. Afterwards, we tried a bit of overclocking by first setting a frequency of 3300 and while using the stock timings; we got errors in TM5 so the next step was to leave the motherboard choose the optimal timings for this particular speed. The 17-19-19-43 setting was fully stable, confirmed by TM5 testing as well. Booting at higher speeds was a no-go:

Conclusive Thoughts

The mainstream XPOWER Zenith 3200MHz C16 32GB memory kit from Silicon Power offers enough performance and memory quantity for the majority of tasks, while the non-RGB design can go hand-in-hand with systems that do not have a plexiglass/glass lateral panel. The heatsink layout is the same as with the RGB version, with the wavy brushed aluminum styling but also the top plastic light component (but this time the LEDs are missing).

Our sample did come with Samsung ICs and we could squeeze a bit more performance by running the modules at 3300Mhz; the extra memory bandwidth is beneficial to gaming scenarios where we have games which are more CPU-bound, but we have found less improvement on the productivity side due to increased timings.

The memory kit, as presented, can be found online for about 235.45 Euros.
