AQIRYS T.G.A. Wired Gaming Mouse Review

Mice & Keyboards by stefan @ 2022-05-26

By including the PMW3389 16000DPI sensor from PixArt inside a lightweight case, a customizable chassis with different colors, a weight system, a paracord cable but also a nice RGB lighting system, the T.G.A Wired mouse does really stand out in the mainstream mouse crowd. We were quite happy with its performance in Borderlands 3, V Rising, GTA V but also Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy, where it tracked flawlessly, but is ideal for office work as well given the overall low weight of the chassis.

Introduction

At first, we would like to thank AQIRYS for offering us a sample of their T.G.A. Wired Gaming Mouse for testing and reviewing.

Product Features

#SOLID PRECISION

At its core, T.G.A. WIRED embeds a state-of-the-art optical sensor engineered by the world's leading manufacturer, sporting 16000 dpi of next-gen optical precision and delivering the resolution, speed, and accuracy required for Pro-level gaming performance!

#SMOOTH EXPERIENCE

Built entirely from premium quality elements, like water-splash-proof PCB to protect from mishaps or 80M clicks rated KAILH mechanical switches for long-lasting button performance, T.G.A. WIRED is ready to withstand a lifetime of using and abusing. Complementary, the modular chassis made of precision injection molding parts featuring a sweat-resistant surface preserves the mouse appearance after heavy use and offers premium comfort for intense gaming sessions. The detachable palm rest allows quick and easy cleaning, so keeping the mouse in top shape is a no-brainer.

#FAST ERGONOMICS

Ultra-lightweight is smoother, smoother is faster! The ultra-low weight of T.G.A. WIRED - only 65 grams without the cable and weight cartridge, coupled with an all-grip symmetric right-handed design reduces wrist-load, allowing hyper-fast, insanely precise mouse movements. These are doubled-down by our ultra-soft detachable USB paracord and the large PTFE skates, both enabling unrestricted glides even on extra-large mousepads.

#ELEMENTAL CUSTOMIZATION

Make it yours! - this is not an overstatement given the remarkable customization possibilities of T.G.A. WIRED that come as a standard. From the inside to the outside, you are free to tweak and adapt the mouse weight, balance, click softness, look, and comfort to your preferences.

A 12-piece cartridge allows balance and weight adjustments from 65 grams up to a still-competitive 80 grams. The spacers with different thicknesses let you fine-tune the L/R click feedback from a crispier, more tactile to a lighter, softer one.

The included multiple swappable covers for both main buttons and palm rest are fuel for your imagination to overhaul T.G.A.’s appearance. Comfort-wise, using the honeycomb perforated palm rests can avoid sweat buildup by enhancing evaporation.

A full-RGB dynamic illumination system sparks life into T.G.A.’s looks, and the AQIRYS intuitive mouse software allows in-depth customization. Lastly, onboard memory is there to assist with rapid and easy storage of personal settings, so you can game freely, wherever you may roam.

Packaging, A Closer Look Part I

We are always happy to review peripherals from other companies and now it is time to check out a gaming mouse from AQIRYS, a hardware brand from Romania. The company does manufacture cases, power supplies, CPU coolers (air/water), fans, keyboards, headsets, standalone microphones, mice, pads and more!

The AQIRYS products are named after real objects in the galaxy; in this case we do have on our testbench the Great Annihilator mouse or (T.G.A.), named after a micro quasar consisting of a black hole and a low mass companion star, believed to be around 16300 light years away from us. The AQIRYS T.G.A. Wired packs a familiar shape but is very light and comes with a lot of customization options. The low weight chassis are a thing nowadays, with the mouse weighting only 67g and up to 87g when the weight system is installed.

The T.G.A. Wired is offered inside quite a large cardboard enclosure for a mouse (you will find why later), and the manufacturer shows via small pictograms the main features of the product:

The highlights are also shown on the side, together with some of the customization options:

Some of the chassis customization options are also presented on the opposite area of the packaging:

Moving on, we will note the box contents listed as drawings, manufacturer information, the model code name but also the product serial number:

More details are found in the back, along with the technical specifications:

After removing the top packaging layer, we will note on the internal box the following saying:

“The Great Annihilator is now in effect. / No GL is needed past this point. Just HF!”

By lifting the top cover, we will note an introduction to the AQIRYS brand and also the link to download software resources:

The installation is made available in both Romanian and English languages; we will also get a nice set of case stickers:

On the back side of the leaflet, we will get the link to download the software for this specific mouse, but also the email address for contacting support:

The Quick Installation Guide is very handy to be able to perform modifications without breaking parts:

A Closer Look Part II

Under the documentation, we will note the mouse, which is carefully surrounded by foam material, to avoid damages during transit. The mouse cable is very flexible (paracord) and braided as well, for additional durability (total length of 1.8m):

The accessories are available in a separate enclosure:

Each of the parts are packaged in separate bags:

As we have seen with Dream Machines mice, AQIRYS does offer a spare of pure PTFE mouse feet but also as an extra we do get a set of button spacers of various thickness:

In the first foam bag, we will note a non-perforated white back cover, which gets easily attached to the chassis frame using magnets:

As spares, we will get two sets of frontal button covers, one in pink and one in back:

By checking out another bag, we will note a holed back cover but also a non-perforated one, in pink:

A Closer Look Part III

Same goes with the set of black back covers:

The mouse has a medium size (ideal for claw and palm grips) and has an all-white color scheme; its shape is comfortable, while the button placement is found with mice from other brands as well (tried and successful recipe):

In the front, we will note a RGB enabled rubberized scroll wheel, same color as the chassis, with a smaller button in the vicinity for DPI step selection. The left/right buttons do house Kailh GM 8.0 mechanical switches, which are clearly audible and are rated for a total of 80 million actuations!

On the left side, we will note the place for resting our thumb finger, but also two more programmable buttons. The small top button and the side ones come with Huano switches:

The right side is identical, minus the programmable buttons; if buttons would have been placed here as well, we could have considered the T.G.A. Wired as a veritable ambidextrous mouse!

Here is also a look from the frontal area of the mouse:

On the bottom, we will note the large, white pure PTFE feet, a sticker with the serial number, power rating and sensor details, but also a Polling Rate selector switch. The mouse does pack a PixArt PMW3389 sensor, with a maximum DPI of 16000, a tracking speed of 400 IPS and an acceleration of 50G:

The back cover is easily removable; this process also exposes the weight system, which is held secure with magnetic force as well. The weight tray does come with a small lip for easy removal:

By pressing on the middle white clip, we could remove the button covers as well:

A Closer Look Part IV

Quite a bit of perforations were done in the chassis in order to obtain a low weight:

The tray holds the small weights, which we can use or remove depending on our preferences:

Under the tray, we will note a small raised circular area which will help get it fixed properly onto the T.G.A. Wired chassis:

By using the supplied interchangeable parts, we can build our own unique model:

The Software GUI Part I

Unlike other brands, we have seen an approach as with Dream Machines, which have a separate tool for each mouse model. The first menu does allow the user to select a different function for the programmable buttons:

Here is the multitude of presets we can choose from:

Some of the functions have sub-sections:

Aim Key

DPI

Multimedia

Office Key

The Software GUI Part II

The mouse can have a total number of DPI steps and we can disable some if not all are needed:

From the LED tab, we will be able to select one of the available presets, each having its own settings:

Here is the full list of presets we can work with:

The Parameter (or Performance) tab does allow the user to change the mouse sensitivity, the scrolling speed, the double-click speed, debounce time, LOD and more!

The Macro area has a dedicated section, from where we can create our own sequences, with or without delays and we can also specify the number of cycles which must be executed on keypress:

The GUI does also allow working with multiple profiles:

The profiles can also be exported and imported via files:

Impressions and Conclusive Thoughts

By including the PMW3389 16000DPI sensor from PixArt inside a lightweight case, a customizable chassis with different colors, a weight system, a paracord cable but also a nice RGB lighting system, the T.G.A Wired mouse does really stand out in the mainstream mouse crowd. We were quite happy with its performance in Borderlands 3, V Rising, GTA V but also Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy, where it tracked flawlessly, but is ideal for office work as well given the overall low weight of the chassis.

One thing we did not see with other manufacturers is the inclusion of extra left/right buttons spacers, to obtain a different click behavior and swapping can be done easy considering that we have multiple sets bundled with the product; the back cover is the easiest to remove in just a few seconds and afterwards we can go ahead and mess with the weight system.

While the graphical interface is not as animated or integrated with other peripherals as we have seen with other manufacturers such as SteelSeries, CORSAIR, Razer, it comes with similar settings we can choose from, the only thing which is missing with this approach would be RGB light sync with other AQIRYS peripherals. Speaking of the RGB system, it features quite a bit of presets, but cannot be configured with separate segments (for example the scroll wheel individually from the taillight).

For a price of about 45 Euros, we do get quite a lot of features for a mainstream mouse so we won’t hesitate giving it an award!

The product can be now purchased from the AQIRYS online store !
