Silicon Power 2x16GB DDR4 3200MHz CL22 SODIMM Memory Kit Review

Memory by stefan @ 2022-09-18

By using the Silicon Power 2x16GB 3200MHz C22 RAM kit, the DH32U5 barebone can deliver a little bit more performance versus the previous 2666MHz tests but this strictly depends on the used application. The modules barely got warm during use so they could be successfully used in more restricted airflow environments, while the kit does offer enough capacity for most user applications.

Introduction

We would like to thank at first Silicon Power for supplying their 2x16GB DDR4 3200MHz CL22 SODIMM Memory Kit for testing and reviewing.

A Memory Upgrade That Gives More

Designed to help your system run faster and smoother, this DDR4 SODIMM series offers up to the industry's fastest memory speed with 3200MT/s. Plus, DDR4 technology is up to twice as fast as its predecessor, DDR3, delivering more bandwidth and more energy efficiency. A simple upgrade allows for faster application load times, increased responsiveness, and the ability to handle data-intensive programs with ease.

Extra Memory, Extra Energy Savings Too

More memory is an easy cure for a slow computer, but it can also increase energy expenditure and overall stress on the system hardware. In addition to a performance upgrade, this DDR4 SODIMM series provides smarter energy consumption with a lower 1.2V voltage. This reduces power usage compared to the previous DDR3 1.5V module. Plus, greater heat dissipation keeps the computer running at lower temperatures for higher stability and a longer system hardware lifespan.

Compatible for Your Convenience

Wondering if your new memory module will function smoothly in your new rig or trusted old computer? This DDR4 SODIMM series is compatible with a wide range of laptops and notebooks. With the adaptability of this memory module, you’ll avoid the random reboots and blue screens that accompany an unstable and incompatible memory module.

A Lifetime of Quality

This DDR4 SODIMM series is 100% factory-tested to guarantee a superior level of stability, durability, and reliability. If that's not reassuring enough, it's also backed by a lifetime warranty that promises complete Silicon Power technical support and services.

Packaging, A Closer Look

It is time to check another SODIMM kit from Silicon Power, this time with a 3200MHz operating frequency and a CAS latency of 22. In our case, the kit has been shipped as separate modules, each carrying a SP016GBSFU320X02 code name.

Each of the module is shipped in blister packaging, with an inner cardboard layer; on the top area, we will note the total capacity of each module, the running speed but we will also learn the fact each module has been factory tested:

The back side does show information regarding the SP Worldwide offices:

The included leaflet comes with installation instructions:

Let’s take a closer look at the modules!

The modules come with a dark green PCB and a sticker on the top area, highlighting the product code name, the operating frequency, CAS latency, the total capacity but also the unique serial number:

On the back side, we will note a similar appearance, minus the factory sticker:

Each module comes with eight SK Hynix 4GB ICs:

Test Setup and Extra Info

The kit was tested inside the previously reviewed Shuttle XPC slim Barebone DH32U5, which incorporates an Intel Core i5-1135G7 CPU and supports installing up to 2x32GB 3200MHz kits.

After running an instance of CPU-Z, we did learn that the kit was running with 22-22-22-52 timings, a tRFC of 880 and a 1T Command Rate:

More details on the modules and the registered timings were picked up by AIDA64:

Conclusive Thoughts

By using the Silicon Power 2x16GB 3200MHz C22 RAM kit, the DH32U5 barebone can deliver a little bit more performance versus the previous 2666MHz tests but this strictly depends on the used application. The modules barely got warm during use so they could be successfully used in more restricted airflow environments, while the kit does offer enough capacity for most user applications.

The modules are backed by a 2-year warranty. If 16GB is not your flavor, then you can always go with 8GB or 32GB sticks with the same running speeds.

Each 16GB 3200MHz C22 module can be found online for about 79 Euros.
