AQIRYS DORADUS Wired Gaming Mouse Review

Mice & Keyboards by stefan @ 2022-12-04

After configuring the DORADUS with our own preferences, we tried multiple games such as Dying Light 2, F.E.A.R. 3, Minion Masters and Agents of Mayhem: the mouse felt responsive, and the low weight is indeed a big plus when setting up a high DPI value. The PixArt 3327 sensor is proven to be reliable and casual gamers should not have any issues. The mouse can be easily cleaned inside thanks to the detachable back, while the number of buttons should be enough for FPS and other game genres which do not require a lot of mappings.

Introduction

At first, we would like to thank AQIRYS for offering us a sample of their DORADUS Wired Gaming Mouse for testing and reviewing.

Product Features, Specifications

Product Features:

#SOLID PRECISION

At its core, DORADUS has a high-end optical sensor engineered by the world's leading manufacturer, sporting 12000 dpi of top optical precision for excellent tracking and maximum reliability in all casual and competitive gaming!

#SMOOTH EXPERIENCE

Built entirely from premium quality elements, like water-splash-proof PCB to protect from mishaps or 20M clicks rated HUANO mechanical switches for long-lasting button performance, DORADUS is ready to withstand a lifetime of using and abusing. Using a honeycomb perforated chassis, we increased the comfort and feel for the most intense gaming sessions by avoiding sweat buildup and enhancing its evaporation. The detachable palm rest allows quick and easy cleaning, so keeping the mouse in top shape is a no-brainer.

#FAST ERGONOMICS

Ultra-lightweight is smoother, smoother is faster! The ultra-low weight of DORADUS - only 63 grams without the cable - coupled with an all-grip symmetric right-handed design reduces wrist-load and favors hyper-fast, ultra-precise mouse movements. This is further doubled-down by our ultra-soft USB paracord plus the large PTFE skates, both enabling unrestricted glides even on extra-large mousepads.

#ELEMENTAL CUSTOMIZATION

Jazzed up with a full-RGB dynamic illumination system, DORADUS is backed up by the AQIRYS intuitive mouse software that allows in-depth customization of all essential features like DPI, DPI steps, polling rate, backlight, macro commands, and more. Lastly, onboard memory is there to assist with rapid and easy storage of personal settings, so you can game freely, wherever you may roam.

Packaging, A Closer Look Part I

In this article we will concentrate upon another gaming mouse from AQIRYS, but this time a model taking part of the entry-level segment, the DORADUS. This mouse includes design elements from its higher-specced brothers such as the T.G.A. to keep a low weight (63 grams without the cable), a PixArt 3327 12000 DPI optical sensor but we do have less customization options.

The product is shipped inside a small cardboard enclosure, showing a photo of the product in the top cover, but also some of the main highlights as icons:

On the side, we will get to see a lateral photo of the DORADUS:

The opposite area does offer a short list of features, in multiple languages:

The bottom area includes some details on the manufacturer, we will note the inside contents as drawings but we will also learn of the product internal code name and serial numbers:

A more in-depth explanation of the interfaces is available on the back, but we will be also shown the technical specifications:

After removing the top layer, we will end up with a box showing the “Weapon of Mass Pwnage Inside!” saying on top:

By lifting the top cover, we will note the usual AQIRYS leaflet, welcoming us to check out the manufacturers’ website:

The address for contacting the support team is also shown here:

As a bundle, we will receive an extra set of mouse PTFE feet, but also a nice set of stickers; the Quick Start Guide is in both Romanian and English languages:

A Closer Look Part II

For an entry-level product, it is great to see such bundle:

The offered stickers are of different shapes or sizes, to fit all preferences:

Inside the manual, we will learn of the main mouse interfaces, but also the default mappings for the buttons:

The DORADUS mouse is protected inside the box with foam material, covered by a thin layer of cardboard:

DORADUS maintains a familiar shape, adopting a hexagonal pattern for the holed chassis, to keep the weight down:

The all-black chassis could be mistaken for an ambidextrous model, but it comes with programmable buttons only on the left side:

The RGB-enabled scroll wheel is covered by a rubber layer for a better grip, and we will note that between the left and right click buttons we have an extra one as well. For the left and right buttons, AQIRYS has used Huano mechanical switches guaranteed for 20 million actuations:

The left side buttons are thinner versus the T.G.A. but long enough to be easily accessible; the hexagonal pattern is also present in the thumb rest area:

The right side comes with the same pattern, minus the programmable buttons:

A Closer Look Part III

On the bottom area, we do have PTFE feet in the sensor lens area but also in the front and in the back:

Besides the sticker which mentions the mouse serial number and the power ratings, we will note that AQIRYS has moved some of the software-configurable options to hardware buttons, for adjusting the Polling rate but also the LED behavior. These options are good because you do not need any software installed for these in particular:

The 1.8m cable is braided and very flexible (paracord-type):

The cable ends up with a standard USB-A connector:

The RGB lighting is nicely distributed on the surface we will use the mouse on, the holed design allowing the light to bleed on the sides as well:

In the back we do have a RGB lip, which is separately configurable:

Throughout the removable back cover, we will note the RGB AQIRYS logo:

Both AQIRYS logo and RGB scroll wheel compose the second RGB segment:

Here is how the lighting system does look with the back cover removed:

The Software GUI Part I

The dedicated software for the DORADUS includes an easy-to-use GUI; right from the initial screen we will be welcomed by the Key Assignment tab, where we can set different functions for the programmable buttons:

Here is the list of functions we can assign to each button:

Aim Key

DPI

Multimedia

Office Key

The Software GUI Part II

We can also export/import profiles to the mouse, saved as files:

The DPI section allows working with multiple steps; we do have up to 7 steps we can work with!

The RGB setup can be configured separately, in two different sections:

Here are the presets available for the RGB lip section in the back of the mouse:

The Logo / scroll wheel do have less profiles:

From the Parameter area, we can change miscellaneous options such as Mouse Sensitivity, Scrolling Speed, Double-click Speed, Debounce Time or enable Ripple Control:

The Macros can be configured from a separate menu:

Conclusive Thoughts

After configuring the DORADUS with our own preferences, we tried multiple games such as Dying Light 2, F.E.A.R. 3, Minion Masters and Agents of Mayhem: the mouse felt responsive, and the low weight is indeed a big plus when setting up a high DPI value. The PixArt 3327 sensor is proven to be reliable and casual gamers should not have any issues. The mouse can be easily cleaned inside thanks to the detachable back, while the number of buttons should be enough for FPS and other game genres which do not require a lot of mappings.

While AQIRYS peripherals do not come with a unified configuration utility, these are easy to use and light in terms of consumed system resources. The RGB setup is very simple and is split in two different segments, the logo/scroll wheel having only two presets we can work with.

The DORADUS is thought to be cost-efficient as well, so we can grab one for about 35 Euros from the AQIRYS Shop page.
