AQIRYS POLARIS White Gaming Mouse Review

Mice & Keyboards by stefan @ 2023-06-05

The POLARIS incorporates durable Kailh micro switches with great 80 milion click durability, while the PixArt PAW3335 does offer good mainstream performance for the casual gamer. It is light enough at just about 73 grams, while the chassis would recommend it with either a palm or a fingertip grip. While the switches do need a higher pressing force versus the models we have seen from other manufacturers such as Huano, they are quite precise and we got accustomed with it in no time!

Introduction

At first, we would like to thank AQIRYS for offering us a sample of their POLARIS White Gaming Mouse for testing and reviewing.

Packaging, A Closer Look Part I

In this article, we will check out another mainstream gaming mouse from AQIRYS, which is named after a triple star system. Right from the product page, we are informed that the Polaris A is a yellow supergiant with about six times the mass of our sun and 1260 times brighter! The AQIRYS Polaris can be had in either black or white and for its price we are noting a very flexible shoelace cable, the PixArt 3335 sensor which can track up to 16000 DPI, Kailh switches with durability rating of 80 million actuations and more!

The product is shipped inside a medium-sized cardboard enclosure, which does show on the frontal area a photo of the Polaris in operation, but also some highlights noted as small icons:

On the side, AQIRYS has posted a photo of the lateral side of the product, highlighting the RGB lip:

The opposite area comes with the product main features, in multiple languages:

The features are explained in more detail on the back side, but AQIRYS has included the technical specifications as well:

The box contents are also listed nearby, along with the product serial number, the warranty period and the product code name:

After removing the top packaging layer, we will note another box, with the saying “Weapon of Mass Pwnage Inside”:

Inside, we will note a small leaflet, thanking us for making the decision to buy this product, along with the web link to the AQIRYS website:

The POLARIS is, of course accompanied by bundle such as the USB cable, the Quick Installation Guide, a sticker set, extra feet but also a small brush:

The brush does help with cleaning purposes and shares the color of the mouse:

The complete set of PTFE feet is very welcome when the pre-installed ones do wear out:

A Closer Look Part II

Inside the guide, we will learn of the main mouse components, how to perform the hardware installation but also from where to download the dedicated software:

The supplied case sticker set is very nice!

The paracord cable is very flexible in order not to add drag to mouse movements; it is fully braided as well for additional durability:

On one end, the USB connector is Type-A (computer side), while the mouse side is USB-C:

The outer shell of the mouse is built from a matte plastic to add some grip to the whole build, while the cut-outs do reveal an opaque, second layer inside which is used as a light diffuser; by choosing this type of design, AQIRYS made sure that dirt will not accumulate on the motherboard, while the dust/debris on the top areas can be easily cleaned with the supplied brush. Being a wireless mouse, it incorporates a 600mA battery, which a maximum charge time of 6 hours, while being able to offer up 40 hours of autonomy. The mouse remains light at just about 73 grams without cable:

The DPI+/DPI- buttons do share the same hexagonal shapes as the cut-outs and are easily accessible:

The scroll wheel is also white, but is not RGB-enabled:

The mouse side panels are made from plastic as well and are accompanied by a RGB frame. They do also come with a custom pattern in the thumb resting area, for more grip, while the two extra buttons can be programmed with the desired functions:

In the back we will observe the curved shape for more comfort, while the AQIRYS logo is clearly noted on the left:

The same type of construction can be seen on the right side, minus the programmable buttons:

A Closer Look Part III

This mouse is equipped with Kailh switches, which sport a durability of 80 million actuations, which should be enough for most users. In the front we have the USB charging port, which will be also used for data transmission while the mouse is used in wired mode:

On the bottom area of the mouse, we will note the pre-installed white PTFE feet, the sensor lens (PixArt 3335 with maximum trackable DPI of 16000, while the polling rate can be set to a maximum of 1000 Hz), we have an On/Off switch for the wireless mode, the button for cycling between different RGB light effects but also a magnetic compartment for the dongle. AQIRYS has noted on the sticker the product serial number, the battery capacity, but even the power consumption in different operating modes!

Here is how the compartment does look with the dongle removed:

The dongle has a very small footprint, which helps when used with laptop configurations, since it won’t obstruct the nearby interfaces:

The RGB lighting looks quite interesting thanks to the huge diffuser!

The Software GUI

The POLARIS comes with a dedicated configuration software, which can be easily downloaded from the product page; the menus are located on top, beginning with the Main section, which allows button configuration, Polling Rate adjustment but from here we will also learn of the current battery level:

Here are the button functions we can choose from when remapping a certain one:

DPI

Multimedia

The Advanced area allows configuring the DPI steps, but from here we can also adjust the Mouse Sensitivity, the Scrolling Speed, but we can also adjust LOD:

The Macro area is next, from where we can define different sequences, including delays:

The Lighting area allows choosing one of the available presets, the LED brightness and effect speed, we have a large list of predefined colors, but also the whole palette to choose from:

Here are the modes we can choose from:

Steady

Respiration

Streaming

In the top right corner of the GUI, we can press on the arrow icon in order to work with profiles:

Conclusive Thoughts

The POLARIS incorporates durable Kailh micro switches with great 80 milion click durability, while the PixArt PAW3335 does offer good mainstream performance for the casual gamer. It is light enough at just about 73 grams, while the chassis would recommend it with either a palm or a fingertip grip. While the switches do need a higher pressing force versus the models we have seen from other manufacturers such as Huano, they are quite precise and we got accustomed with it in no time!

The included software is easy to work with, there are quite a bit of configuration options in terms of mapping keys, but the RGB setup is a bit lacking.

The mouse autonomy is quite big (up to 40 hours) after a full charge, but this can vary quite a bit depending on the chosen DPI levels, the brightness of the LEDs and so on; however, the usage remains pleasant during the time it is charging as well, thanks to the included 1.8m paracord cable.

The AQIRYS POLARIS White mouse can be purchased from the AQIRYS Shop for about 60 Euros. You may ask yourself why the POLARIS Black is less expensive? That is because it comes with less durable switches, Huanos with a rating only of 20 million actuations.
