YaOweMe Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

The YaOweMe app is designed to assist you in tracking money owed to you and money you owe to others. However YaOweMe has no connection to your banking or other financial accounts, it relies completely on data you and people you interact with providing this information. At its heart, YaOweMe is a specialized communication system. This Privacy Policy sets out how we, Yoody Tech LLC (“Yoody”), use and protect your personal data that you provide to us, or that is otherwise obtained or generated by us, in connection with your use of our cloud-based messaging services (the “Services”). For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, ‘we’, ‘us’ and ‘our’ refers to Yoody, and ‘you’ refers to you, the user of the Services.

We process your personal data on the ground that such processing is necessary to further our legitimate interests (including: (1) providing effective and innovative Services to our users; and (2) to detect, prevent or otherwise address fraud or security issues in respect of our provision of Services), unless those interests are overridden by your interest or fundamental rights and freedoms that require protections of personal data.

3. What Personal Data We Use

3.1. Basic Account Data

YaOweMe is a communication system. Use of the service requires creation of a YaOweMe account. Creation of an account requires you to provide a screen name and optionally an email address or phone number. The email address or phone number are transmitted to contacts you make with other YaOweMe users in order to pass them messages regarding money owed to them or by them. However none of the screen name, email address, or phone number are stored in the cloud, they are only stored and accessible on your device or the devices of those you establish contact with. Within tYaOweMe cloud services your account is identified by a randomly-generated set of keys.

3.2. Your Messages

YaOweMe is a cloud service. However, to the extent possible, Yoody does not want or need to store the messages you exchange with other users. To that end, aside from your identifying keys, messages created for other users are only stored in the YaOweMe cloud until they are collected by their intended recipient. In addition, while stored in the YaOweMe cloud they are encrypted with a key shared with the recipient. The message content cannot be decrypted and read by the YaOweMe cloud servers or by any other party.

3.3. Cookies

The only cookies we use are those to operate and provide our Services on the web. The YaOweMe app only runs on mobile devices, not on the web, so no data in the YaOweMe app is used or exposed via the web. The only necessity for providing data via the web would be to utilize YaOweMe application support services. We do not use cookies for profiling or advertising.

4. Keeping Your Personal Data Safe

4.1. Storing Data

Account data is hosted with Amazon Web Services, an industry-standard cloud-hosting provider. Careful attention has been paid to ensure only our servers can access your data. However, YaOweMe is not designed to provide hardened security. If your usage requires such security please do not use YaOweMe.

4.2. Retention

Unless stated otherwise in this Privacy Policy, the personal data that you provide us will only be stored for as long as it is necessary for us to fulfill our obligations in respect of the provision of the Services.

5. Processing Your Personal Data

5.1. Our Services

Yoody is a cloud service. We will process your data to assist you in making new contacts in YaOweMe and to deliver messages to your contacts.

5.2. Safety and Security

The fundamental design principle of YaOweMe is to 1) store only randomly generated key data to identify your account and 2) only store messages intended for recipients until they are received. Though this minimal storage should be of little use to a third party we realize attackers still may seek to access it. To improve the security of your account, as well as to prevent spam, abuse, we may collect metadata such as your IP address, and devices you've used, etc.

Yoody will not use your data for targeted ads or other commercial services.

6. Who Your Personal Data May Be Shared With

6.1. Other YaOweMe Users

When you contact another YaOweMe user, the information you entered in your profile, which optionally may contain your phone number and email address, along with the screen name you have chosen, is passed to that user.

6.2. Law Enforcement Authorities

If Yoody receives a court order requiring us to turn over information we have regarding your account, we may disclose your IP address, screen name or other data we have received to the relevant authorities.

7. Your Rights Regarding the Personal Data You Provide to Us

7.1. Your Rights

Under applicable data protection legislation, in certain circumstances, you have rights concerning your personal data. You have a right to: (1) request a copy of all your personal data that we store and to transmit that copy to another data controller; (2) delete (see section 8 below) or amend your personal data; (3) restrict, or object to, the processing of your personal data; (4) correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal data we hold on you; and (5) lodge a complaint with national data protection authorities regarding our processing of your personal data.

7.3. Data Settings

Sadly, if you're not OK with YaOweMe's minimum requirements, it won't be possible for us to provide you with our Services. You can delete your YaOweMe account by sending a request to remove your account to support@yoodytech.com.

8. Deleting data

8.1. Accounts

If you would like to delete your account, you can do this by sending a request via email to support@yoodytech.com. Deleting your account removes your account keys and any messages awaiting delivery to your contacts, as well as other data associated with your account. This action must be confirmed via your YaOweMe account and cannot be undone.

8.2. Messages

Messages destined for your recipients cannot be deleted, except by deleting your account. However bear in mind that once the message has been received, it is automatically deleted from the cloud.

8.3. Account Self-Destruction

By default, if you stop using YaOweMe and do not come online for at least 6 months, your account may be deleted along with any undelivered messages or any data in the YaOweMe cloud.

9. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We will review and may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes to this Privacy Policy will become effective when we post the revised Privacy Policy on this page yaoweme.com/privacy.html. Please check our website frequently to see any updates or changes to our Privacy Policy, a summary of which we will set out below.
