  • Celebrating Ramadan: A Journey of Kindness, Learning, and Reflection In the past number of weeks EYFS and Primary students have been exploring, learning and acknowledging an important time for the UAE community: the Holy month of Ramadan. Kindness and Giving: Students explored the values of sharing and generosity by discussing how we can contribute to our classroom and community during Ramadan. Our students thought about kind deeds they could carry out and learned how practicing gratitude is an important aspect of the Holy month. Through books like Rameena’s Ramadan, they reflected on acts of kindness and created a ‘Ramadan Basket’ filled with symbols of the holy month. Exploring Ramadan Traditions: Through hands-on experiences, students learned about important Ramadan traditions. The fasting countdown helped them understand patience and commitment. Exploring Iftar foods through sensory activities allowed them to discover the significance of taste, smell, and texture in Ramadan meals. Creativity and Expression: Students expressed themselves through Islamic Geometric Patterns and crescent moon artwork, showcasing the beauty of Ramadan through art. They also engaged in the Moon Shape Sorting activity to better understand lunar phases and Ramadan’s connection to the moon cycle. Our aim with these learning experiences is to deepen our students' understanding of Ramadan while fostering essential skills in the seven areas of learning.

The energy in the Arbor Theatre was electric, with laughter, suspense, and awe filling the room as our students transported us into a world of adventure. The audience was enthralled, hanging onto every word and movement, and their enthusiastic response reflected just how successful this production was. A huge congratulations to the cast, crew, and everyone involved in making Arabian Nights such a triumph. • ECO INQUIRY UPDATE: As we near the end of this year's Sea School season, we wanted to share with you the incredible field work that our Year 4, 5, and 6 students have been completing. It's been a remarkable journey of learning, exploration, and connection with our local marine environment at Jebel Ali Wildlife Sanctuary under the guidance of Dr Tiffany and Miss Agi. Year 4: Our Year 4 students have continued to deepen their understanding of wetlands. They've been actively exploring the importance of these ecosystems and have been identifying various species of fauna and flora. To complement their fieldwork, the students have planted the mangroves which they cared for and raised in our Biofarm over the past months. Their hands on learning journey has helped them understand the vital role mangroves play in protecting coastlines and supporting biodiversity. Year 5: The Year 5 students have been focused on the fascinating world of sea turtles. They've explored the habitats of sea turtles, the challenges they face, and the impact of human activities on their nesting areas. This year’s work has emphasised the importance of conservation efforts, and the students have gained a deeper appreciation for the delicate balance required to protect these amazing creatures. At Sea School, students assessed the nesting sites and helped clear the future hatchling’s paths to the ocean. Year 6: Year 6 has been delving into the wonders of ocean habitats, particularly coral reefs. Their studies have included identifying different types of coral adapted to the UAE using fragments they found on the beach. They’ve discovered the delicate nature of coral ecosystems and how human impact is threatening these important habitats. It's been an eyeopening experience, and the students have shown incredible enthusiasm and respect for these underwater ecosystems. As we wrap up this season, we're so proud of our Arborist's growth, knowledge, and commitment to environmental topics. Thank you for your ongoing support of our Sea School program and ensuring that our students are ready on the day of their site visits

The Emirates LitFest brought literary adventures to our students through two exciting experiences. Year 7 and 8 Author Visit: Darryl Gadzekpo and Ella Phillips, authors of "From Plant to Plate", visited our school and they shared insights about growing food and cooking. At the end of their session they prepared one of their recipes using fresh herbs from our garden. Ross Welford Event:On Friday , Jan 31st, a group of secondary students earned tickets through our internal competition to attend Ross Welford’s event at the Emirates Literature Festival. Ross Welford is known for his time-travel books. These events brought literature to life for our students, inspiring their creativity and love for reading.

We are excited to share the success of our recent BSME Eco STEM Competition, which we hosted for the second year in a row. This inspiring event brought together students from nine schools across Dubai and Abu Dhabi, all eager to present innovative solutions to critical ocean-related challenges. The competition served as a platform for young changemakers to address pressing issues like ocean pollution, marine biodiversity loss, and sustainable resource use. Among the highlights was the participation of a team of our very own Year 5 students, who presented their creative and impactful ideas on tackling plastic pollution in the ocean. Their presentation was a testament to the passion and dedication of Arbor students in contributing to a more sustainable future.

✏️ Another LitFest has passed, and I really hope some of you got to my recommended sessions. I managed one or two myself. I took the school author visit of "Plant to Plate," which was wonderful, to Arbor School, Dubai. The students loved the interactive session, especially making pesto and pasta at the end. I loved the recipe and will be using it again for sure. Darryll and Ella made all the children enjoy their time while learning about nutrition in a fun way. Well done, guys! Thank you to all at Arbor School Sanam BOZORGI #LitFest #PlantToPlate #ArborSchoolDubai #AuthorVisit #KidsNutrition #InteractiveLearning #PestoPasta #HealthyEating #ChildrensLiterature #DubaiEvents #SchoolVisit #Education #SDG4

  • This week at Arbor, we had the incredible privilege of welcoming NASA astronaut Dottie Metcalf-Lindenburger to inspire our students. Hearing firsthand about her journey to space, the challenges she overcame, and the future of space exploration was a powerful reminder that learning extends far beyond the classroom. Moments like these ignite curiosity, broaden horizons, and reinforce our mission to equip young people with the mindset and skills to navigate an ever-changing world. The next generation of scientists, engineers, and changemakers may have been sparked right here at Arbor!
