The British Chamber of Commerce Dubai, (formerly the British Business Group Dubai and Northern Emirates) was set up in 1987 to encourage the development of British business in the UAE. It undertakes a wide range of activities from communicating with decision makers to sharing best business practice and arranging networking events for its members. The BCCD operates under the auspices of the Dubai Chamber and is recognised by the UAE authorities as the representative body of British companies and individuals operating in Dubai. The group is led by a committee of members elected annually and its administration is handled by a professionally staffed office. Since its inception, the BCCD has undergone huge growth and now has more than 900 business and individual members and annually holds more than 70 events and seminars. It is widely recognised as one of the largest and most active business groups in the Gulf.

This morning BCCD members and guests had the opportunity to meet the Intellectual Property Office UK at Fairmont Dubai. This event attracted industry leaders, lawyers and business owners keen to discuss the future of intellectual property for the region. Our guest speaker was Sarah Roberts-Favell, the Deputy Director for International Policy at the UK Intellectual Property Office (IPO), the official UK government body responsible for intellectual property, including trademarks, patents and copyright.
