Hard to believe that just over a week ago I was in the bustling city of Delhi, joining the U.S. delegation for the inaugural U.S.-India Cancer Dialogue. This was the first international dialogue hosted by Biden’s Cancer Moonshot with the mission to decrease the cancer death rate by 50% over the next 25 years. I was honored to join a group of inspiring academics, industry, regulatory and government experts at the National Institute of Immunology in New Delhi to discuss ways that the U.S. and India can collaborate to prevent more cancer deaths. We heard about truly groundbreaking work that is being done to fight this insidious disease, including insights from Nobel Laureate, Dr. James Allison, who figured out how to turn the immune system against tumors. It was most humbling to be there and certainly a career highlight. A big thanks to Catharine Young, Ph.D., Genessa Giorgi, the team at USIBC - US India Business Council, the DGA Delhi team: Saumya Varma, Piyush Chakravarty, Arijeet Singh, Jayanti Paul, Anuradha Das Mathur, Bipul Kiran Singh, and my colleagues in DC, Anthony Renzulli, Anthony Cino, and Atman Trivedi.   DGA supported as the Knowledge Partner, so we’ll be delivering a report of recommendations and next steps with the goal of moving cancer cure and care forward collaboratively. Dr. Sudeep Gupta of the Tata Memorial Centre put it well, “We can end cancer for everyone, everywhere, not just for some people in some countries.” Let’s do that.
