Yesterday, Ambassador H.E. Anders Bjørn Hansen visited Masdar City alongside his Nordic counterparts from 🇫🇮🇳🇴🇸🇪. The purpose of the visit was to explore opportunities for deeper collaboration on sustainability initiatives and strengthen the existing partnerships. Accompanied by H.E. Tuula Yrjola, Olav Myklebust, and H.E. Fredrik Florén, the delegation discussed innovation, sustainability, and potential joint events. They were warmly welcomed by Masdar City’s leadership, where the tour highlighted Masdar’s pivotal role as an economic driver for Abu Dhabi, fostering both local and international business partnerships and advancing sustainable growth. WELCOME TO OUR NEW DEPUTY HEAD OF MISSION AND OUR NEW INTERNS🇩🇰🇦🇪 Say hello to the Embassy’s new Deputy Head of Mission, Astrid Folkmann Bonde. Astrid is a passionate barista and never turns down a well-made flat white☕️. She comes from a position as Press Advisor for the Minister for Development Cooperation and Global Climate Policy. Astrid has previously been posted to the Embassy of Denmark in Ukraine and Afghanistan. Meet our new interns: Danial Sohail and Levin Sabir. Danial is our new political and economic intern. He’s currently a master’s student in Political Science at Lund University📚 Levin is our new public diplomacy intern. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Law at the University of Copenhagen👩🏽⚖️ We’re thrilled to have them on board and hope their time here at the Embassy and in Abu Dhabi is filled with learning, growth, and fun. Today H.E. Ambassador Anders Bjørn Hansen had the great honor of meeting the Crown Prince of Ajman, H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi. The visit endured fruitful discussions on our strong bilateral ties, and on areas such as green transitions and sustainable development. Very grateful for the wam welcome, and looks forwards to achieve the shared goals towards a sustainable future.

Did you know that Denmark is a centre player and contributor to International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA)? 💡 Last week H.E. Ambassador Anders Bjørn Hansen participated in the 27th IRENA Council. One focus area was scaling up and de-risking renewable energy investments. They are central in realising decarbonisation and the sustainable development goals. The Ambassador made his intervention on the importance of bolstering partnerships with private sector entities and emphasized the need for more capital in order to reach the goals. He also presented key projects in Denmark towards getting the energy transition away from fossil fuels, reaching climate neutrality in 2045 and becoming CO2 negative in 2050. 🌍 Another key focus was the importance of learning from each other and overcome financial and other barriers through collaborative efforts. Denmark has in 2022 launched Global Offshore Wind Alliance (GOWA) together with IRENA and Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) with the aim to accelerate the global deployment of offshore wind, public-private collaboration and exchange of best practices. Working together is key to achieve the sustainable development goals. 🤝 Let’s work together for a greener future! 🌱
