EWEC forged a strategic partnership with ADNEC Group to power ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi entirely with renewable and clean energy, making it the first and largest event venue in the Middle East to utilise clean energy. The landmark partnership sets a benchmark for the decarbonisation of the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions (MICE) sector across the UAE. Through this new strategic partnership, ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi will have 100 per cent of its grid power supplied by EWEC’s renewable and clean energy sources, verified through the provision of Clean Energy Certificates (CECs) issued by the Department of Energy Abu Dhabi . This strategic partnership will significantly reduce the carbon emissions of major exhibitions and events hosted by ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi and will position ADNEC Group as a global leader in sustainable event management. EWEC has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Contango, a leading company in managing change and digital technological transformation, to advance digital strategies and Enterprise Technology transformation initiatives at EWEC. EWEC is rapidly increasing electricity capacity from renewable and clean energy sources, and presiding over the largest transformation of the country’s water production infrastructure. Through the strategic partnership, EWEC and Contango will collaborate under the guidance of a joint committee to coordinate and identify strategic services aimed at propelling digital programmes and driving corporate technology transformation initiatives at EWEC to support its acceleration of the UAE’s energy transition. Today, EWEC invited developers and developer consortiums to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the development of a new wind power farm to be located in close proximity to the existing utility-scale wind programme in Al Sila. The Al Sila Wind project is a greenfield renewable energy project with a generation capacity of up to 140 megawatts (MW) AC which, when fully operational, will more than double the existing wind generation capacity in the UAE. This significant addition to the UAE’s renewable energy portfolio will generate enough clean electricity to power 36,000 homes, displacing 190,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually, and will directly contribute to Abu Dhabi’s Clean Energy Strategic Target 2035 for 60 per cent of electricity production to be generated by renewable and clean sources. Othman Al Ali, Chief Executive Officer of EWEC, said: “EWEC proudly expanded our energy generation portfolio in 2023 through our strategic agreement with Masdar for power generated from the UAE’s existing utility-scale wind programme. Now, with this new project, we will more than double wind generation capacity in the UAE, and significantly expand the provision of renewable energy available 24/7. Importantly, this new project will pave the way for further large-scale deployment of wind technology in Ahu Dhabi, and by harnessing the power of wind we are not only diversifying our energy portfolio but showcasing that a clean energy future is within reach.” Developers and developer consortiums are invited to submit Expressions of Interest by 5 November. أعلنت شركة مياه وكهرباء الإمارات عن دعوة المطورين وائتلاف المطورين لتقديم طلبات إبداء الاهتمام بتنفيذ مشروع مستقلّ لتطوير محطة جديدة لطاقة الرياح في منطقة السلع، بالقرب من البرنامج الأول من نوعه لطاقة الرياح على مستوى المرافق الخدميّة في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة. يعد مشروع محطة السلع لطاقة الرياح مشروعاً لإنتاج طاقة متجددة بسعة توليد تصل إلى 140 ميجاوات، وبمجرد دخول المحطة مرحلة التشغيل الكامل، ستسهم في مضاعفة سعة توليد طاقة الرياح الحالية في دولة الإمارات لأكثر من الضعف، مما يعني إضافة سعات جديدة إلى محفظة الطاقة المتجددة في الدولة، بما يكفي لتزويد 36,000 منزل بالطاقة النظيفة، والتخلص من حوالي 190,000 طن من ثاني أكسيد الكربون سنويًا، وسوف يقوم هذا المشروع بدور رئيسي في تحقيق مستهدفات الطاقة النظيفة لإمارة أبوظبي 2035، المتمثلة في توليد 60% من الكهرباء من خلال مصادر الطاقة المتجددة والنظيفة. قال عثمان آل علي، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة مياه وكهرباء الإمارات: "تفتخر شركة مياه وكهرباء الإمارات بالتوسع الذي حققته عام 2023، من خلال الاتفاقية الاستراتيجية مع مصدر لشراء الطاقة المولَّدة من البرنامج الأول من نوعه لطاقة الرياح على مستوى المرافق الخدميّة في الدولة. ومع هذا المشروع الجديد، سنتمكن من مضاعفة قدرة توليد طاقة الرياح في الدولة، والتوسع بشكل كبير في توفير الطاقة المتجددة على مدار الساعة، إضافةً إلى أهمية هذا المشروع الجديد في تمهيد الطريق لزيادة نشر تكنولوجيا الرياح على نطاق واسع في أبوظبي. من خلال تسخير قوة الرياح، سنؤكد قدرتنا على رسم ملامح مستقبل الطاقة النظيفة، إلى جانب التنويع في محفظتنا من الطاقة". يتعين على جميع المطورين وائتلاف المطورين الراغبين بالمشاركة في تنفيذ هذا المشروع تقديم طلبات إبداء الاهتمام في موعد أقصاه يوم 5 نوفمبر. لمزيد من المعلومات يرجى زيارة: https://lnkd.in/dmMSQR49 #الطاقة_المتجددة #طاقة_الرياح #الاستدامة #أبوظبي #الحياد_المناخي #الإمارات
