The Ethraa Programme, sponsored by the UAE Central Bank and designed and delivered by the Emirates Institute of Finance in partnership with leading providers like PwC and CIPD, under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, marks a significant milestone this year as more than 100 Emirati graduates join FAB. With over 150 graduates from the programme in previous years, 85 participants starting their journey in September 2024, and 100 more expected to join in the next batch, the programme introduces them to the values and structure that shape their career paths over the coming months. FAB is proud to introduce the Ethraa Programme, a strategic initiative launched in 2022 under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, to prepare Emirati talent for roles in the financial sector. Sponsored by the UAE Central Bank and designed and delivered by the Emirates Institute of Finance in partnership with leading providers like PwC and CIPD, the programme offers an 8-12 month development plan that includes practical experience, mentorship, and professional guidance. With over 150 Emiratis already graduated from the programme in previous years, 85 participants starting their journey in September 2024, and 100 more expected to join in the next batch, Ethraa is paving the way for the future of the UAE's financial industry. Another stellar start to the week out of Asia with risk rallying hard again, led by Chinese equities. For the ninth consecutive day, sentiment is again being propelled higher by the optimism surrounding China government stimulus commitments, including key interest rate reductions, capital injections and freeing up of cash for banks as well as the lowering of mortgage rates and relaxed rules for homebuyers. As a result, the CSI 300 index has spiked by almost another 6% this morning – its biggest one-day gain since 2015 according to Bloomberg data – putting it around 22% higher in the past 5 days alone. The sharp gains are likely being magnified by the need to get trades done before the Chinese market closes from this evening for the week-long National Day holiday.

Asian equities are again being propelled higher in early trading this morning by this week’s release of unprecedented stimulus for China’s economy. On top of the monetary measures announced yesterday, the PBOC has backed up the move today - and bolstered positive sentiment - with a 30bp cut to the 1-year medium-term lending facility rate to 2.00% (from 2.30%).

After a likely slow start to the week in terms of global trading volumes, with Japan closed today for the Autumnal Equinox Day holiday and therefore no trading of U.S. treasuries until London opens, focus will turn to the macro data scheduled for the week. Before then though, there is a more buoyant tone out of Asia this morning, after the PBOC cut the 14-day reverse repo rate to 1.85% 1.95% earlier this morning.
