Public Speaker & Impact Investor. Tackling global challenges through innovation, investments and coordinated action.
Want to make a difference for the environment? Forget bottom-up or top-down approaches. Here's why. ▪️ Circular Economy is trending, and so is its greenwashing. Companies and governments parade eco-friendly practices while their core operations continue to deplete resources and damage the environment. This hypocrisy isn't just misleading; it's a roadblock to genuine sustainability and purpose-driven innovation. Unregulated, unrestrained consumerism, powered by the economy's 'take-make-dispose' engine, is unsustainable (and unreasonable), and there's no way to sugarcoat this. We're polluting pretty much any river, sea, soil, glacier on the planet, on course with ecological bankruptcy, yet solutions are painted in broad, ineffective actions by those most responsible. ▪️ The root problem? Obviously, a system rigged for short-term gains by a powerful minority, consciously ignoring the long-term fallout for humanity and the planet. ▪️ The top 1,000 corporations, alongside governments, pump out over 90% of global emissions. In an idyllic society, they'd lead the charge in this monumental shift, although we must be aware of how silly it is to expect this problem to be solved by the same exact institutions who have been consciously responsible for the disaster that our generations are finding themselves immersed into. Vested interests and entrenched power structures render top-down and bottom-up approaches ineffective, leaving the only chance unfolding onto communities and networks to spearhead this needed change. Circular Economy isn't about small-scale recycling programs or switching to paper straws. We're talking about a systemic overhaul, from the ground up and the inside out. It's about investing in, developing, and supporting projects that not only mitigate current damages but also show us the way for a sustainable transition. ▪️ The solution: Technological breakthroughs together with a radical rethinking of our consumption patterns, corporate accountability pressure, and projects supported by us, consumers, employees, investors, and industry experts, reshaping slowly the very framework of our economies. ▪️ This change requires a shift from isolated efforts to a coordinated, network-powered movement. Communities and collectives, holding undeniable cumulative influence, can drive this transition, not through mere advocacy but through tangible actions, technologies, and investments. ▪️ The challenge is monumental, yes, yet our resolve must match it.
