And it’s a wrap! We just delivered a static model review and optimization for a gas green field in the Middle East. The team made a quick review to understand the most critical reservoir features and proceeded to optimize the static model for a faster run time in the dynamic simulator. The Operator was looking to support running hundreds of sensitivities to ensure the current development concept stays the most optimal in light of the first production data at hand. Fast track seismic geomodelling: fail to plan = plan to fail In carbonate reservoirs, every seismic feature counts and must be present in the reservoir models. Raffik Lazar: “in carbonate reservoirs, drilling cost is directly proportional to the amount of efforts put in trying to map features from seismic and ensuring their representation in the reservoir models.  Ultimately those who overlooked this crucial aspect ended up overspending on the drilling side, increased risk of having total losses and ultimately eroding the project attractiveness”. How to develop a Carbonate reservoir in the transition zone? Find out how GeomodL International cuts down the process to days instead of months using FD sPeed Generate multiple conceptual FPDs to help selecting the most optimal concept considering the subsurface uncertainties. In this example, we are investigating the best maximum production rate per well between 800, 1000 and 1200 bopd for a 20 well development scheme scattered along the transition zone from the crest of the structure to the FWL for a 35-year period. Don’t forget in carbonates: Transition zone = oil + water production = Lower Recovery Factor   At first glance, producing more looks attractive economically... …but Producing at a lower oil rate (800 bopd) will yield less water production which in return equates to lower CAPEX and better reservoir management: -         smaller scope for the water treatment facility -         Less injector wells needed to achieve a VRR of 1 (16 versus 11) -         Significant reduction in external water requirement at the initial stage of the field life to maintain a VRR of 1 -         Gentler drawdown in the reservoir Give us some well log data, a top reservoir map and production test results / fluid samples.
