    💡 Have you heard about the #ESA's new planetary defense system designed to protect us from meteorites? 💫 We're talking about the #Hera mission, which incorporates technology developed by Sener. Launched on Monday from Cape Canaveral (Florida), has included the participation of Sener, responsible for its low gain antenna or LGA (Low Gain Antenna), which will help establish the ship’s communication with the tracking stations on Earth to send scientific data. Hera is headed to a unique target among the more than 1.3 million known asteroids in our Solar System – the first body to have had its orbit shifted by human action – to solve lingering mysteries associated with its deflection. 🛰 The objective of Hera is to demonstrate the reliability of kinetic deflection as a planetary defence technique. Through its approach, Hera will collect and expand crucial missing data on Didymos and its asteroid Dimorphos following NASA’s DART mission and its impact on the asteroid Dimorphos in 2022, which caused an alteration in its orbit. ▶ Check out this European Space Agency video for a deeper dive into this fascinating mission. 📺 Credit: ESA-Science Office #SenerAerospaceandDefence

    3️⃣ 2️⃣ 1️⃣ ... 🚀 #Proba-3 set for launch on November 29th following last test! In a final test before its shipping to its Indian launch site, #ESA’s eclipse-making double-satellite Proba-3 mission has received commands from its science team and transmitted images back, exactly as it will operate in orbit. 💡 The 12-hour test replicated part of Proba-3’s highly elliptical 19.5-hour orbit around Earth, with its formation flying for observing the solar corona taking place over a six-hour period around apogee, meaning the top of its 60 000 km orbit. As the prime contractor for this mission, we are proud of this milestone, which brings us one step closer to the mission's ultimate goal: demonstrating the readiness of precise formation flying technology and at the same time using it to perform scientific observation of the Sun’s corona, in conditions never achieved until now. Made up of Coronagraph and Occulter satellites, Proba-3 is the latest in an ESA family of experimental minisatellites dating back to 2001, the name coming from the Latin for ‘Let’s try!’ To learn more about the mission and the final tests before the launch, be sure to check out this news article: https://lnkd.in/deiA_RMR #SenerAerospaceAndDefence

    🚅 Sener, at the meeting with the Spanish Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility with Spanish companies in Abu Dhabi 🇦🇪   #Sener representatives in the region were honoured to share a reception with Óscar Puente at the Spanish Embassy in United Arab Emirates, together with other companies that are leading projects for the development of the region's #infrastructures 🛤.   As a prelude to the opening of Global Rail Transport Infrastructure Exhibition & Conference, we had the opportunity to talk with the Minister about how the Spanish #RailIndustry is positioned at the international forefront and about the commitment to promote projects and new #SustainableTransport alternatives in the region.   📷 Ministerio de Transportes y Movilidad Sostenible   #SenerMobility

    We want to share a very important milestone for us: The Palmdale-Burbank section of the #HighSpeed 🚄 San Francisco-Los Angeles rail line has earned environmental certification 🍃from the California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA)! 🛤 The section between Palmdale and Burbank is part of Phase 1 of the #California High-Speed ☀ -the first in the United States under construction- and spans approximately 70 kilometers, traversing urban, rural and natural areas. It will also provide a #SustainableMobility alternative and improve operation and #safety through the use of state-of-the-art signaling technology. At Sener we are especially proud of this project, of great technical complexity, where we acted as the main consultant of the consortium, leading since 2015 the collaboration of important North American #engineering companies and being responsible, among others, for the preliminary design and assessment of the alternatives to find the best solution, as well as the conceptual design of the stations and the #EnvironmentalImpact analysis and the rights of way to be acquired for the track layout, stations and auxiliary elements. 🚀Congratulations to the entire Sener team in the USA and to all the people who made this milestone possible! https://lnkd.in/dWqh8ngH #SenerMobility

We are working on the energy transition process of Scholven 1.   Sener and Siemens Energy have been selected by Uniper to conduct a feasibility study.   After the commissioning of Scholven 1, combined cogeneration plant built by Sener under the EPC (#engineering, purchasing and construction) modality in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, we are happy to announce that we will study the feasibility of this plant's transformation, which is currently consuming natural gas, so it can use #hydrogen (H2) as a fuel source for gas turbines and boilers.     🌍 This is a new step into the #EnergyTransition process of Uniper’s plant. #SenerEnergy

    This week we have celebrated 30-year history in the design, production and operation of high-performance unmanned aerial, land and naval systems of SCR and its integration into the Sener group! An anniversary celebration which offers us the opportunity to recognise decades of success at SCR, the work and commitment of its people and the vision of its founding team. Its integration into Sener (after the acquisition of the company last April) undoubtedly reinforces our industrial capabilities in the development and production of remote operators, an area in which we are an internationally renowned player. Held at the Air and Space Museum in Madrid, the event was attended by various officials in the field of defence and security, including Air Force General Francisco Braco Carbó, Chief of Staff of the Air Force and Space Force; Admiral Aniceto Rosique Nieto, Director of Armament and Material; Lieutenant General Julio Ayuso Miguel, Director of the National Institute of Aerospace Technology; Lieutenant General Fernando Miguel García y García de las Hijas, General Chief of the Logistics Command of the Army; Admiral Gonzalo Sanz Alisedo; Second Chief of Staff of the Navy; Major General Jose Luis Figuero Aguilar, Head of the Historical and Cultural Service of the Air Force and Space Force, as well as representatives of the Armies, Navy and DGAM. The event was supported by Colonel Félix Manjón Martín, director of the Air and Space Museum. Representing Sener were Andrés Sendagorta, its chairman; José Antonio Ceballos Peláez, the CEO of SCR; Jose Julián Echevarría, the Managing Director of Sener Aerospace & Defence at Sener; Rafael Orbe Corsini, Managing Director of Defence at Sener; as well as the staff of SCR and part of Sener’s Aerospace and Defence team.     Science Programs Director at Sener Aerospace & Defence

    🔭La industria de #Ciencia en España está muy presente en el telescopio más grande del mundo, el Extremely Large Telescope (#ELT), que se está construyendo en el desierto de Atacama, en Chile. De él se dice que será el “ojo más grande del mundo que mira al cielo”. Hoy, hemos hecho entrega al European Southern Observatory del mecanismo del espejo M5 del ELT.   Estoy muy orgulloso del equipo de técnicos y profesionales que, coordinados por Miguel Redondo de Santos como director de proyecto, han diseñado, construido y probado este complejo sistema en nuestras instalaciones en Barcelona. Algunos datos de este mecanismo, que quizás dan una idea de su complejidad: ✅ Es el mecanismo de estabilización de espejo más grande del mundo, con sus 2.7 m x 2.2 m y 440 Kg de peso. ✅ Sirve para estabilizar las imágenes recogidas por el ELT. Para ello, debe dirigir la luz captada por el telescopio a gran velocidad (hasta 10 veces por segundo). ✅ Debe ajustar el ángulo del espejo con muchísima precisión, de unas pocas decenas de milisegundos de arco (rango de ± 0,5 mrad, con precisiones de 50 nrad en ancho de banda de hasta 10 Hz), sin deformar el espejo. ✅ Cuenta con tres actuadores de tipo piezoeléctrico (sistemas electromecánicos de microcontrol) capaces de mover individualmente cargas de 270 Kg, con movimientos minúsculos (rango superior a 600 um). ✅ Debe combinarse con el M4, el cuarto espejo en la trayectoria de la luz del ELT, integrando un sistema de óptica adaptativa.   De este modo, el M5 puede compensar las distorsiones que provocan el viento o los propios mecanismos del telescopio. Lo que va a permitir al ELT tomar las imágenes más nítidas y de mayor resolución jamás vistas por un telescopio óptico.   El director general del ESO, Xavier Barcons, y el responsable del Programa ELT del ESO, Roberto Tamai, han visitado hoy nuestras instalaciones para celebrar la aceptación provisional del mecanismo del M5. Todo un logro para Sener y para la industria nacional que es desde hace tiempo un referente en #astronomía, con instituciones de prestigio y una industria habituada a trabajar en los principales telescopios, tanto en tierra como en el espacio.   Por todo eso, hoy es un día para celebrar por nuestros expertos ingenieros e ingenieras que han logrado con éxito este diseño innovador. ¡Gracias #EquipoSener!
