Job description We are currently searching for a highly talented Road Design Engineer to join us in Abu Dhabi! You will join an expanding company with great growth opportunities. You will get to work on transportation projects across the UAE using complex engineering techniques and performing studies. Responsibilities: Lead the design of transportation projects for public sector clients, including plans production, technical writing, quality control, and support in business development and proposal activities regionally. Lead the design of a vast array of roadway improvement projects, including the design of horizontal and vertical geometry, drainage design, maintenance of traffic, erosion control, signing and marking, plans production, design documentation, technical writing, quantities calculations, and other applicable design and project documentation. Oversee, train, and mentor junior roadway design staff in design and plan production tasks Coordination and communication within the project design team, including client contacts, internal staff, and subconsultant team members Candidate Qualifications: Minimum 5 years experience in Road Design with thorough knowledge of Road Design Software. Ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports, etc. and any project specific engineering and construction relevant software Good written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with project team. Ongoing project🏗️ Project Scope: Conducting a comprehensive conditional assessment to identify water seepage root causes and repair methodology. Ongoing activities: Evaluating deflection in beams and structural defects in the parking elements. Alongside site survey activities and vibration sensor installations to monitor traffic impact on the parking structural elements, we’re also assessing raft uplift caused by groundwater pressure. This proactive approach will help ensure the safety and longevity of the structures. Project Spotlight: Al Yasmina School Junction Modification I recently had the privilege of working as an ARE with Super Arc Consultant L.L.C on the Al Yasmina School Junction Modification project. The project was part of a Traffic Impact Study (TIS) mitigation strategy aimed at addressing anticipated traffic demands and enhancing the junction’s capacity to handle increased vehicle volumes. Our responsibilities at #SAC included the design and supervision of the upgrade, covering: - Detailed design of roads, street lighting, ground improvement, landscaping, and storm water management. - Obtaining NOC approvals from all relevant authorities. - Securing town planning approvals. - ITC approvals. - MCC approvals. - Supervision of site activities Despite being a relatively small project, the tight timeline, space constraints, and diverse activities made it as critical as a large-scale project. Project scope included: - Exposing existing utilities. - Relocating utilities. - Protecting utilities. - Ground improvement. - New road construction. - Overlaying existing roads. The successful completion of this project was a result of the collaboration and dedication of all parties involved: the client #AlDar, the PMC #Parsons, the contractor #Hilalco, and the consultant #SAC. Our scope includes: • Soil Reports Review: Verifying foundation recommendations and dewatering scenarios for site conditions. • Dewatering System Review: Assessing and optimizing dewatering strategies to maintain foundation stability. • F.E. Modeling: Conducting 3D analysis for shoring system optimization. • Verification Boreholes: Drilling 60 meters to verify geotechnical data. • Seismic Testing: Conducting Downhole Shear Wave Velocity tests and MASW profiles. • Lab Tests & Engineering Report: Providing detailed analysis and recommendations. Project: Road Junction modification in Abu Dhabi For such projects, the biggest challenge is obtaining all necessary approvals in a short period of time due to the time constrain.
