Another day, another award ceremony showcasing the incredible achievements of Tabreed! And we’re particularly pleased with this one, as this week the company was honoured at the Asian Power Awards in Singapore, in a ceremony attended by other giants of the GCC and Asian energy sector. Recognising Tabreed as a long-established champion of sustainability, judges awarded us with two significant wins: ‘Geothermal Power Project of the Year – Gold’ (for our ‘G2COOL’ geothermal plant developed in partnership with ADNOC Group) and ‘District Cooling Initiative of the Year – UAE’ (for last year’s pioneering pilot study with nanofluid technology). Representing Tabreed and accepting the two awards on the night was Irshad Hussain MCIArb MRICS , Vice President – Projects, joined on stage by colleagues Mohamed Gadara and Ajeesh Musthafa. In his acceptance speech, Irshad detailed the benefits of Tabreed’s operations and reiterated that Southeast Asia is a region in which we’re eager to do business, bringing our globally unrivalled expertise in sustainable cooling. Congratulations to everyone involved in these game-changing projects, which provide further proof that Tabreed really is the world’s leading district cooling company.

Tabreed has once again emerged victorious from the GLOBAL ESG AWARDS – this time winning the coveted ‘Health and Well-being Programs’ category. It’s one of 20 individual Sustainability Awards categories based on different aspects of sustainable development, each aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.   Everyone in Tabreed benefits from the unwavering focus the company places on our health and well-being, whether that’s physical, mental, emotional or financial. And the plaudits keep rolling in. Hot on the heels of being named ‘People-Focused CEO of the Year in the 2024 HRM Summit Awards, yesterday we received news that Khalid Al Marzooqi features in Forbes Middle East’s Sustainability Leaders 2024.   This prestigious list presents 107 leaders across 12 sectors, and 105 companies, involved in moving the region closer to achieving its sustainable agenda. Khalid appears alongside 53 other UAE entries, with Saudi Arabia featuring 20, Egypt 10, Qatar eight, Bahrain and Kuwait with five each and Oman three.   To compile this year’s list, Forbes’ judging panel analysed questionnaires and sustainability or ESG reports, with the ranking applied separately for each sector. Taken into consideration were transparency of reporting, reductions (or, in Tabreed’s case, preventions) in greenhouse gas emissions, as well as waste, water, energy, and other resources, energy efficiency and use of renewables.   During Khalid’s tenure as CEO, Tabreed’s global reputation as the world’s leader in district cooling has gone from strength-to-strength. Everyone in the company celebrates this latest accolade alongside him and takes inspiration from his boundless energy and wise, insightful leadership.

What an exciting kickoff to World Utilities Congress.
