Nepal and Bhutan, two of South Asia’s least populated countries, are seeing a significant rise in demand for architectural paints and coatings. In both nations, growth in the construction sector has driven a steady increase in the coatings market, now valued at approximately USD 51 million. Despite recent economic challenges, Nepal’s paint industry has benefited from a surge in construction, especially following the 2015 earthquake and expanding tourism. Leading companies such as Asian Paints and Berger Paints India are scaling up their capacity in Nepal, with new facilities set to meet the growing demand. Meanwhile, Bhutan’s architectural coatings market, estimated at USD 6 million, is also showing promise. Growth in the construction sector, which contributed nearly USD 225 million to Bhutan’s GDP in 2023, is boosting demand for paints and coatings products across the country.
