If existing #watermanagement strategies continue and climate predictions hold true, #waterscarcity could negatively impact GDP growth rates around the world. Regions such as North Africa and Middle East could see their growth rates decline by as much as 10% of GDP by 2050 due to water-related losses in agriculture, health, income, and property. However, with improved, efficient water resource management, negative impacts can be mitigated, and some regions could even see increased growth. According to WRI research, each dollar invested in water access and sanitation generates an average return of US $6.80. Learn more about the benefits of effective water management in our latest Trend Compendium 2050 report, which takes a deeper dive into trends impacting the environment, biodiversity and resources. https://lnkd.in/gPXxwX_z #UnlockWaterPotential #RolandBerger

#COP16: A critical moment for land & #climateaction 🌱 The sixteenth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP16) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 from Dec 2-13, 2024. This is a key opportunity to accelerate efforts on land restoration, drought resilience, and combating desertification—issues affecting over 1/3 of the world’s land. With a people-centered approach, COP16 aims to raise global ambition for a sustainable, climate-resilient future. It’s time to act for the future of our planet. #OurLandOurFuture

It was a privilege to speak #today at #COP16-#Ryiadh about desertification—a crisis that threatens the very foundation of the MENA region's future. Our region is already one of the driest on Earth, and accelerating land degradation is deepening vulnerabilities, jeopardizing food security, and straining water resources for millions. #Desertification doesn’t respect borders; its impacts ripple across countries. Sandstorms, water shortages, and land degradation are shared burdens that demand shared solutions. No nation can solve this alone, and regional cooperation is not just beneficial—it’s essential. #Governence must lead with cross-border agreements on sustainable water use and land restoration, but local communities are equally crucial. Their knowledge and involvement are key to implementing practical, long-term solutions. Technology, particularly AI #artifical Intelligence, is a game-changer. By analysing climate, soil, and vegetation data, AI can forecast risks and optimize interventions, giving us the tools to act preemptively. Coupled with satellite imaging and regional collaboration, we can monitor and address desertification more effectively. The MENA region’s challenges are immense but solvable. Together, with decisive action and innovation, we can combat desertification and secure a sustainable future for our region.

🌍 #COP16Riyadh reminds us of the urgent need to zero-in on delivering greater investments to remote communities affected by the impacts of climate change, including drought and land degradation. 🟢 We can help increase private and public finance flows into adaptation and resilience efforts by derisking vulnerable areas of the world, often seen as high-risk to investors, to help pave the way for sustainable and inclusive financing mechanisms.

📢 Join us for a side event at the COP16Riyadh as we explore finance for rangeland restoration and resilience. Rangelands are critical ecosystems that support both biodiversity and livelihoods for millions of people, especially in Africa. However, they are increasingly under threat from climate change, land degradation, and unsustainable land-use practices. The challenge of financing restoration efforts in these regions is substantial. This session will discuss innovative approaches to scaling finance for rangeland restoration and resilience, providing practical solutions to drive action on the ground. Experts will highlight successful examples of public-private partnerships, innovative financial mechanisms, and the role of international finance in supporting sustainable rangeland management. A various set of panellists will showcase initiatives aimed at scaling restoration efforts , with a focus on the East and Southern Africa regions. ➡️ See the details below and join us! Major objectives of #COP16Riyadh, which begins today and will address soil health and the challenges of desertification. With 40% of the world’s soils degraded and a steadily growing global population, it is both urgent and essential to mainstream sustainable and effective land management practices. I have been invited by both ChangeNOW and the United Nations to attend, 1. #RegenerativeAgriculture, which restores soil health while producing abundant, healthy raw materials. Crop rotation, no-till farming, and soil cover are among the most effective practices 2. #Agroforestry, 3. #impactMeasurement . With our expert LCA from Eu revised by 2 experts showing that our patented mulch is better than plastic for land and seas . We are proud at Clic Recycle® To follow the work of many grand father did ! The #Business4Land Forum, organized by ChangeNOW in the heart of the Blue Zone, will allow businesses to share best practices and foster partnerships to restore degraded soils. For the first time, a COP formally welcomes the private sector into a space traditionally reserved for state negotiations—a strong signal to companies aiming to restore soils within their value chains on a large scale. #UNCCD #UNCCDCOP16 This #UNited4Land
