We're happy to welcome our new legal advisor on the Safe YOU app in Armenia, Anahit Sargsyan! 😍 With extensive expertise in family law, Anahit is here to provide crucial guidance for women in Armenia on issues such as: domestic violence, divorce, child custody, and more. Her experience in court and pre-trial representation will be invaluable to our community as we continue empowering women with trusted support and resources. You can ask questions from her on the Forum section of the app and get a free consultation on any of the matters mentioned above. We would like to remind you that users are anonymous in the Forums, and your personal privacy is guaranteed while using the Safe YOU app.📲 — This forum is made possible due to the “Women Initiative for Security and Equity’’ (WISE) program, supported by the U.S. Department of State and implemented by the Mercy Corps Georgia.🤝

Yesterday, we hosted the Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV) in Armenia Research Announcement event, gathering guests from government bodies, international organizations, local NGOs, and our Georgian partners from Mercy Corps. We were honored to have Lusine Sargsyan from United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Armenia, who together with our Mariam Torosyan gave welcome remarks, setting a strong tone for the event. This research, conducted in collaboration with Civitta Armenia as part of our Safe Online program, was presented during the event, followed by a panel discussion on the topic "Addressing Challenges and Risks of TFGBV: State and Private Sector Actions." Our esteemed panelists included Sophie Bostanchyan (Ministry of Social and Labor Affairs), Zaruhi Hovhannisyan (Women’s Support Center), Sevak Hovhannisyan (Civitta), Nino Chubinidze (Mercy Corps), and Mariam Torosyan (Safe YOU). The participants shared valuable insights, and we had a fruitful discussion on how to address the challenges and risks of TFGBV effectively. This event also provided an excellent opportunity for networking, as it was the first research of its kind in the region, addressing a new and pressing topic. We are proud to have been at the forefront of such a significant initiative. #SafeYOUapp

🥰🇬🇪Our Safe YOU team is currently on a business trip in Tbilisi, participating in a 3-day regional conference organized by our Georgian partner, @Sapari, as part of the WISE program. This conference is a unique opportunity to bring together grassroots organizations from Armenia and Georgia, all of whom have received small-scale grants and successfully implemented impactful projects. 🤝We’re proud to share that two of our sub-grantees from last year are with our team, showcasing their incredible projects and the meaningful results they've achieved. Their presentations were inspiring and a testament to the power of local initiatives in driving positive change. 💪🏻Stay tuned as we continue to collaborate, learn, and grow together with our partners to empower and uplift communities across the region! #SafeYOUApp

Հայուհի means Armenian Woman ☺️ But What it Means to be an Armenian Woman Born During the Collapse of the Soviet Union? Being born during the "dark and cold years" of the 1990s means coming into a world marked by the collapse of the system, a devastating war, and the aftermath of a major earthquake. It meant growing up with no electricity, no water, and military tanks in the capital city, enduring hardships passed down through generations🇦🇲 We grew up hearing stories of our parents' beautiful yet oppressed youth, the struggles of our grandparents during World War II, and the unimaginable sufferings of our ancestors during the Genocide. These untold stories of inhuman endurance shape our identity, along with our own struggle for independence and peace. As young girls, we faced the rise of toxic masculinity in a country in transition where men ruled. We had no choice but to be resilient, adapting to the cold and the scarcity of resources. We fought for our place on the playground and our right to ride a bicycle. We became champions, masking our pain and embracing life with hearts full of dreams—dreams of traveling, seeing the big world, studying, and finding our way in serving others⭐️ Now, as a woman, it is still a daily fight. I live in a democratic country affected by wars, and I am dedicated to serving the women of the world. I travel and meet incredible people, and this journey of endless exploration and growth builds another kind of resilience, vision, and spirit. I am still my own champion from my childhood, an artist at heart, writing poems and drawing paintings. I have the courage to be that child and to give love to this big world♥️ This journey has taught me to embrace life with strength and grace, turning every challenge into an opportunity to grow and to serve. I am proud that the first journal cover I appeared on is named Hayuhi. In this journal, I talk about Safe YOU ‘s mission and how we use technology to empower women and disrupt violence against them.

🌍🤝 During our recent visit to Romania, the Safe YOU team had the privilege of touring CARUSEL, a shelter that has been dedicated to serving vulnerable communities for the past 12 years. Currently, CARUSEL is providing crucial support and safe accommodations to Ukrainian refugees, particularly women and girls affected by the conflict. ✨💼 We shared our app and outlined the services and resources we offer within Romania. Witnessing the resilience of the residents and the comprehensive care provided by CARUSEL was incredibly inspiring. This experience underscored the vital impact of local organizations in supporting displaced individuals and reinforced our commitment to aiding refugee communities.

We recently returned from an enriching trip to Romania, where we had the pleasure of engaging with the @Agenția Națională pentru Egalitatea de Șanse între Femei și Bărbați (ANES). Our discussions with Director Monaliza Cristea were highly productive, and her inspiring address at our launch event left a lasting impact. 📈 During our visit, we conducted comprehensive training sessions with ANES staff, focusing on leveraging our app to enhance the impact of NGO activities supporting women and girls. 🤝 We are profoundly grateful for the warm welcome and unwavering support from ANES. Thank you for your invaluable partnership and dedication to advancing gender equality!

The first time I visited New Mexico, USA, last year with my amazing fellow entrepreneurs from Europe, we planted trees together, made countless connections, and forged lifelong friendships. Those trees symbolized something greater—making New Mexico a place of mission. I promised the group of domestic violence survivors I met in Albuquerque that I would bring Safe YOU to them. Yesterday, I returned to Albuquerque to plant new seeds—the seeds of Safe YOU. Our mission and vision for impact are clear and from here, we will expand to other states. To my YTILI fellows Benjamin Ammann Mateusz Hoppe Ines Bensalem Bruno Stojakovic Nataly Bovdzey I miss you and cherish the time we spent together here. I'm grateful for all the connections this journey has brought, thanks to Pamelya Herndon, Hiroko Minami Melora Palmer Jonathan Taylor, MBA Olivia Engstrom Sila Avcil, MA Michael Garlid SHIRLEY SENN, CUDE and Tiffany Gravelle, CMP Fellow, CUDE Glenn St Onge. This incredible chain of meetings has made this journey complete. There is so much to do in pursuit of our vision and dream, but we are very close to celebrating strong partnerships giving their first fruits. I am confident that we will celebrate together the impact we all strive for with our incredible partners and supporters, fulfilling our big joint goals. If you want to be part of this journey, join our event on June 15th from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
