Origin
On February 7th, 2021, Facebook[1] user Adley uploaded a video of Taylor Watson demonstrating her "nacho hack," which involves spreading nacho cheese on her countertop, layering it with various nacho ingredients, crumbling chips, then scooping the nachos into a conic tortilla shell like an ice cream cone. The video gained over 26,000 shares and 17,000 reactions on the platform (shown below).
Spread
The video began spreading on Twitter after it was reposted by user @PettiBetti_, gaining over 6,300 retweets, 23,000 quote tweets, and 43,000 likes (shown below). Her repost has been viewed over 4.4 million times.
Spread of the video on Twitter was aided by users like @MollyJongFast,[2] whose repost gained over 850 retweets, 2,500 quote tweets, and 7,200 likes (shown below, left). Restauranteur Tyler Florence tweeted,[3] "I’m putting a temporary ban on all hacks, tricks, tips, creations, spins, easy steps, make-a-heads, sheet pan one pots, or whatever wacko tictok flops you bloggers dream up at night without explicit written permission and recipe approval from your local Professional Chef," gaining over 140 retweets and 990 likes (shown below, right).
