New opportunities for agribusiness! We are seeing a lot of consumer interest in having more traceability and sustainability in products, and on the other end, we need data that generates visibility and efficiency for rural producers and companies operating in the sector. In the following interview on the program "A Força do Agro" by Revista Oeste, Kieran Finbar Gartlan discusses the opportunities in agribusiness and what The Yield Lab Latam offers to companies that invest in our funds and to the startups that are part of our portfolio. Have you ever wondered what carbon emissions are and why they are so important? 🤔 As a leading venture capital firm in Latin America, we're at the forefront of AgriFoodTech innovation, working with a diverse and multicultural team that recognizes the challenges facing different sectors and even the world. Carbon emissions are a significant issue that many overlook. Well... we don't! That is why we participate in events such as #EarthNight, celebrated in honor of #HalfEarthDay. This event brought together investors, entrepreneurs and experts to analyze the most innovative solutions for the sector that can help us protect our planet. It is essential, in times like these, that we begin to review production systems to improve efficiency and at the same time continue to take care of our natural resources that are not infinite. Thank you to our partners Impact Ventures PSM Dalus Capital and SP Ventures! It was a pleasure co-hosting this event with you. And thank you everyone who joined us at this special event, organized as part of México Tech Week. We are excited about the future of #AgriFoodTech and its role in a more sustainable world.

What challenges do climate change and geopolitical tensions pose for farmers? 👀 In our latest Quarterly Market Update, Roberto Vitón discusses the challenges facing farmers and highlights the impact of trade and regulatory factors. Competing trade blocs, evolving regulations, and political developments are some of the topics he discusses, but the most intriguing aspect of his analysis is the focus on technological solutions developed by Latin American entrepreneurs to address the challenges facing the agricultural sector. At The Yield Lab, we celebrate the talent and innovation emerging from our region. We're committed to fostering connections and supporting projects that can significantly impact agriculture, both regionally and globally. Read the full market update here! 👉https://lnkd.in/d6_iS8Si

We were present at AGSTAR! ✋ The Yield Lab team once again witnessed all the alliances and networks that are built in spaces such as #Agstar, a meeting held in Bogotá that is committed year after year to providing a space for the exchange of knowledge, conversations and networking between key players in the agri-food system. This year's meeting also offered a valuable opportunity for the winning StartUps of the #AGSTAR contest to present their pitches to prominent investors in the sector. Agstar is built upon three core pillars: 👉 Focus: Identifying critical challenges facing the agri-food sector. 👉 Search: Showcasing innovative StartUps that offer solutions to these challenges. 👉 Integration: Connecting key industry stakeholders through a platform rich in proposals to address their needs. Driven by these pillars, #TheYieldLabLatam proudly continues to support this event, actively participating in panels and debates. We firmly believe that such spaces are essential for cultivating a thriving network, where new actors contribute their expertise and collectively improve the entire production chain, ultimately boosting the productivity of our projects. 💪

With an eye on tomorrow, we are taking action today 🧐 From October 23rd to 25th, we participated in Latin America's most important business center, #ExpoAgroFuturo 2024 edition. The event took place in Bogotá, Colombia and it was Tomás Peña who, on this occasion, represented The Yield Lab by participating on the "Ecosystem Panel" where he discussed the implementation of innovative solutions that simultaneously address food security, climate change and biodiversity loss. Additionally, Tomás moderated the Agtech panel: "Innovation and technology in action. The potential of technology in agriculture: greater productivity and sustainability." Once again, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting events like #ExpoAgroFuturo, which build bridges between the key players in agriculture.

Global Technology, Local Application 🌎 In line with YLL's grassroots approach to engaging with our strategic investors in building a sustainable food value chain, we recently visited Nestlé's headquarters in Vevey to report and discuss 2024’s progress, latest developments, findings, and alignment for 2025. We attended the meeting with our partners from #YieldLabEurope, which broadened the scope of the discussion beyond Latin America. In addition to showcasing top Latin American talent to Nestlé, we also provided an in-depth assessment of advanced technologies tailored to each region where #Nestlé operates. This involved a comprehensive, disruptive, and localized vision of how technologies are applied in each of the countries involved. Among the many topics we discussed as a team, the Global Sustainable Dairy Challenge, which we successfully concluded and Nestlé sponsored that same week with a major closing event in Amsterdam, stood out as a prime example of our ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between our investors and the most advanced global projects. This was achieved through a deep understanding of our investors' needs, combined with the effective implementation of globally recognized talent scouting initiatives.

✨🌐 Exciting News! We are thrilled to announce our latest investment: Courageous Land is now part of our portfolio! 🚀 Courageous Land, a pioneering agroforestry-tech company based in Brazil, has just closed an investment round and is ready for a significant leap forward! The investments so far have been led by Fundo Vale, Seedstars International Ventures and The Yield Lab Latam, with participation from JLL Foundation, Wedgetail, and former Goldman Sachs investment management leaders, strategic angel investors, and family offices. Recently, the company launched a platform for agroforestry intelligence to identify the economic potential of transforming degraded lands and, thus, scale up agroforestry systems, or SAF, which are the productive techniques that combine commercially valuable crops with reforestation or the preservation of native vegetation. 🌱 What makes this business incredible: * Courageous Land’s proprietary Agroforestry Intelligence™ Platform provides land stewards with agroforestry software, financing, management, and crop/carbon sales support. * Their carbon-neutral products assist corporate partners in their decarbonization efforts. * By integrating diverse trees into farmland, Courageous Land’s network of land stewards maximizes carbon removal and produces nature-positive ingredients, including coffee, cocoa, fruits, nuts, timber, and more. 🌍 Led by Philip T. Kauders, Gilberto Terra, and Luiza Avelar, the company’s mission is to combat climate change while promoting abundance and health for life on Earth. 💡 Learn more about the new platform: https://lnkd.in/djCJU75c

👉What policy reforms are needed to support the growth and sustainability of the Southern Cone’s agriculture sector? 👉What are the challenges in securing funding for agricultural investments, and how can they be addressed? 👉What examples of productivity and sustainability improvements can be replicated across the region? 👉What opportunities exist for private and public investments to improve agricultural infrastructure and technology? These were some of the questions raised during the panel "Feeding the Future: Enhancing the Southern Cone’s Role in Global Food Security," held in Buenos Aires last Wednesday (October 9) during the event “The Future of Business in Latin America’s Southern Cone,” organized by Economist Impact and PUENTE. 🌐 Our Managing Partner, Kieran Finbar Gartlan, participated and discussed the advantages of this region in food production and how technology can accelerate this natural advantage. "With data and technology, we can help farmers make better decisions and support participants outside the farm gate, such as banks, input companies, trading firms, and insurers, to better understand what’s happening in the production sector and make the supply chain more efficient," he stated. ✨ The event explored the region’s strengths and weaknesses while identifying opportunities for investment and growth. In light of this scenario, The Yield Lab has been forming strategic partnerships so that both our investors and our portfolio companies can meet this new global demand.

How much do you know about the dairy industry? 🤔 Currently, this is one of the sectors with a very significant methane footprint in the world and for which we choose to work and bring the most advanced talents in terms of innovation. For this, together with our partner #TheYieldLabEurope, we carry out the #DairyChallenge, a meeting where the main figures of the dairy sector meet to witness the Start Ups that have advanced technology for this industry. This is a great opportunity for us as it allows us to identify in depth the pain points of our investors to work together on possible solutions that are accompanied by a sustainable vision that covers not only some countries, but the entire world equally. Santiago Murtagh participated at the panel "Sustainability in the Dairy Supply Chain" where each panelist set the scene for the problems and opportunities they see in the sustainability of dairy from each of their perspectives. 7 Startups were finalists from 100 applicants, located in different countries around the world 🌎 Congratulations to the winner of this new selection for the #DairyChallenge PhageLab from Chile!
