It's a must-watch
One of the great, If not the greatest, brazilian filmmakers of our time. José Mojica Marins is the king of explotation. Even being old, those movies are leagues better than any other thing shat nowadays by Porta dos Fundos or any other contemporary movie made in Brazil. This was the golden era of Brazilian cinema. An age of remarkable creativity, popularity and groundbreaking filmmaking that might never happen again.

the citizen kane of brazilian horror
Coffin Joe, undertaker, uberman, existential philosopher and sadist murders his way through on his quest to find a woman to continue his blood line. Lots of horror hijinks and atmosphere. Trivia: whip sounds/screams were sampled from the movie "Barrabas with Anthony Quinn.

surprise!
I didn't expect much from this movie; but I was pleasantly surprised. It was a bit intense in some places but what a great Halloween movie this would make. I particularly enjoyed the witches character and the ending scene was nightmare quality.

wow
This movie is pretty intense for something from 1963. It's not B-movie schlock. The violence is intense and shocking, even by today's jaded standards. And Coffin Joe is definately a memorable figure of evil.
