💧 Turning Waste into Value: Decentralized Water Management in Action 🌱 We are happy to share that Tamara Vobruba (Team Lead, Circular Economy & Bioeconomy), together with our CEO Maria Wirth and Marco Hartl (Team Lead, Nature-Based Solutions & Water), have contributed to a newly published paper exploring 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐮𝐬𝐞—starting from an Austrian eco-village and scaling up to urban environments. 🔬 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐬? ✅ Green walls do more than just look good—they can 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫  and 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 for local reuse.  ✅ Reclaimed water can 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐧-𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐩 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 and reduce dependence on external fertilizers.  ✅ These solutions aren’t just for rural areas—they can be 𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐮𝐩 𝐭𝐨 𝐮𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 to make cities more sustainable.  ✅ On-site wastewater treatment 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬 other methods like rainwater harvesting and composting in many cases.  ✅ Using 𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬 helps optimize how we manage treated wastewater efficiently.  🌍 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫? 🌱 SMART Solutions for Circular Economy and Bioeconomy in Pongau 🌱 We were excited to contribute to the Workshop zu SMART Solutions für Kreislaufwirtschaft und Bioökonomie im PONGAU, organized by #Regionalverband #Pongau as part of the FUTURAL Project. This event brought together experts to discuss innovative approaches to local resource management and sustainable solutions.   Together with STRATECO OG, we presented possible future scenarios for the local valorization of sewage sludge. During the interactive session led by Tamara Vobruba, our Team Lead for Circular Economy & Bioeconomy, participants brainstormed to identify and categorize key criteria for assessing these scenarios. 🌿 Exciting discussions at the NetworkNature EU Science-Policy Event on "Nature-based solutions for urban-regional water resilience: What to do with too much water?"! The event brought together insightful best practices and learnings from various EU projects, including CARDIMED EU, in which ANRI is currently involved for the replication and transferability of NbS in the Central European region. In the afternoon fishbowl sessions, lively discussions revolved around the evaluation of NbS impacts, financing, and integrated planning—key aspects for scaling sustainable water management solutions where Marco Hartl could share some experiences from past and present projects (such as HOUSEFUL Project and NATURE-DEMO). 🚀 Tackling Plastic Pollution with Inspire Europe! 🌍♻️ Sarah Gilani,Christine Bertl and Panos joined the bündnis mikroplastikfrei general assembly, where we had the chance to present the Inspire Europe project and connect with amazing colleagues—including Daniel Steinitz, head of bündnis mikroplastikfrei. It was great to exchange ideas on tackling plastic pollution! At ANRI, we’re leading WP3, focused on circular solutions for plastic waste prevention in European rivers and Task 6.3 engaging citizens through hands-on science activities. And there’s more—together with bündnis mikroplastikfrei, we’re planning a big event where cutting-edge technologies developed within INSPIRE will be showcased, and local startups will get a chance to pitch their ideas to the community! With a background in 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐛𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 and a 𝐏𝐡𝐃 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲, he brings a wealth of experience in Project Management, Social Ecology, Island Sustainability, Zero-Waste Solutions, and Degrowth. Panos has been deeply involved in transdisciplinary initiatives, such as Sustainable Samothraki, and is co-founder of DISSCO Dissemination-Science-Communication, promoting public engagement in science. At ANRI, he will focus on the Inspire Europe, leading WP3 to develop 𝐜𝐢𝐫𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬.
