But let's get back to the beginning … Everything started with the chance discovery of rare Keshi pearls on the island of Tahiti. These treasures are considered a by-product in pearl farming’s search for perfection, which sparked a unique idea in our founder. Since then, we’ve strived to embrace nature’s beauty and diversity in our one-of-a-kind jewelry. With our collections, we focus on style, premium quality and longevity. Every piece is designed by our founder Helena herself and handcrafted by experts using only the highest-quality materials. Genuine pearls and natural gemstones - all unique in shape & colour, 18k gold vermeil and 925 sterling silver. We are serious about making a change. For us, style should never come at the expense of the people producing it or the planet we call our home. Not only are all our materials ethically sourced and mainly recycled, but we also support social causes and environmental efforts to protect Mother Nature. The BRUNA customers are our heroines - the same applies to our team. We don’t want to just write about us, we want to hero anyone interested in joining us.     Trust = Evidence I recently got invited to a keynote with serial entrepreneur Florian Gschwandtner at Schelhammer Capital in my home town Vienna. While Florian shared many interesting insights that I, as a founder, could relate to, one particular topic stood out to me—the concept of trust. As a leader of a remote company, I can only work effectively alongside leaders and team members whom I fully trust. But when do I actually trust someone? Four essential pillars build trust, and these are: 💡 Competence : Competence refers to the ability to do something successfully or efficiently. It involves having the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience to perform tasks or make decisions effectively. In a professional setting, competence means that a person is capable of fulfilling their responsibilities and meeting expectations in their role. It’s one of the key factors that builds trust because people rely on those who consistently demonstrate proficiency in their work. 💡Integrity: Integrity refers to the quality of being honest, ethical, and having strong moral principles. It means doing the right thing, even when no one is watching, and maintaining consistency between one’s values, words, and actions. People with integrity are trustworthy because they are dependable, keep their promises, and adhere to a code of ethics or principles, regardless of external pressures. In a professional context, integrity fosters trust, as it ensures that individuals act transparently and fairly in all situations. 💡Motif: A motif refers to the underlying reason, intention, or purpose behind a person’s actions. In the context of trust, understanding someone's motif helps reveal why they do what they do. It’s important for trust because if someone's motives are genuine, selfless, and aligned with shared company goals, trust is built. Conversely, if the motif is self-serving or dishonest, it can erode trust. 💡Results: A result is a measurable outcome or achievement that an individual produces through their work or efforts. In the context of trust, delivering consistent and reliable business results builds credibility, showing that an individual or team can achieve what they set out to accomplish. I always know why I trust someone or why not, but after this evening, I could finally put it in words.     🥂 Celebrating two years at BRUNA! September marks two years I am at BRUNA The Label. It’s been a journey of growth and learning, and I’m incredibly proud of what we've achieved as a team. From writing the company’s first Impact Report, to securing our first Responsible Jewellery Council Code of Practices and Forest Stewardship Council Chain of Custody Certifications, and maintaining The Change Climate Project Climate Neutral status—it's been a whirlwind. A special highlight was establishing a partnership with The Impact Facility, visiting artisanal mining projects in Kenya, and setting a new direction for our precious metals sourcing strategy. Getting to know our production team in Thailand, witnessing their expertise and dedication has been another rewarding experience I am especially grateful for. But some of the best memories over the past two years have been the ones shared with the team, especially during our team events in Vienna and the breathtaking Alps. Looking ahead, our 2030 ESG Goals set an ambitious path—one we are committed to walking alongside industry peers, including through our membership in the Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030. Join us in celebrating Earth Day by exploring our newly published Impact Report. #EarthDay #ResponsibleJewelry 🌎 Reducing GHG Emissions We're proud to announce that we reduced our greenhouse gas emissions by 33% per jewelry piece from our 2022 baseline. This milestone marks our dedication to climate action and to reducing emissions in line with the objectives of the Paris Agreement. 🌎 Supporting Mercury Elimination in Artisanal Mining We partnered with The Impact Facility to test solutions for eliminating mercury use in artisanal gold mining. By doing so, we're working towards a future that dignifies the work of artisanal miners and preserves the delicate balance of our ecosystems. 🌎 Obtaining New Certifications We obtained our first Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain of Custody (COC) certification, which signifies that the materials used in our packaging meet the high standards of responsible forestry management. We also achieved our first Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) Code of Practices (COP) certification, ensuring responsible sourcing and production.
