This report provides key updates on climate and energy progress in the Contracting Parties, covering electricity market integration, renewables, energy efficiency, and carbon pricing developments. With the transitional phase of #CBAM now active, the tracker highlights delays in market coupling, potentially impacting the time-limited exemption for electricity exports to the EU. As of 1 January 2026, EU importers will start paying for carbon emissions embedded in imports, including electricity. 🙌At the 'Investing for Gender Equality and Inclusive Climate Action'event, organised by the UNDP Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (UNDP ICPSD) Regional Hub and the OECD - OCDE Istanbul Centre, our colleague Marta Schulte-Fischedick kickstarted the discussion on Women’s Leadership for Just Transition and Inclusive Climate Action. 🗝️reflections from the event: 1️⃣ Broadening the definition of "work" – It’s crucial to consider all jobs impacted by transitions, including informal and indirectly affected roles. 2️⃣ Unequal impacts on women – Women face unique challenges in transitions, with less access to resources and decision-making power. 3️⃣ The vital role of women’s leadership – Women’s leadership is essential for a successful Just Transition. 4️⃣ Strengthening the foundation for women's leadership – A feminist perspective must be integrated into policies to empower women in climate action. The event brought together over 120 representatives from parliaments, governments, the private sector, CSOs, and international organisations across multiple regions to foster gender-responsive climate action ahead of COP29. #JustTransition2024 #EnergyCommunity #GenderEquality #ClimateAction #WomenInLeadership #COP29

The 16th Energy Community Oil Forum wrapped up today in Belgrade with a strong message: Contracting Parties must urgently implement the Oil Stocks Directive and modernise their oil sectors to align with global sustainability goals. Nearly 100 participants—government officials, industry leaders, and international organisations—emphasised both the critical role of oil in energy security and the push towards sustainable energy systems. 🛢️ The Forum highlighted: Compliance with the Oil Stocks Directive, with a call for 90-day reserves.
