Radiologists take on an increasingly central role within the multidisciplinary teams as being the ones with the big picture helping to coordinate care. Wouldn´t it be great if radiologists actively accompany a patient‘s journey from the beginning to the end and beyond? Wouldn ´t it be great if this leads to better informed patients and thereby more consistent patients, quicker appointments and smoother processes? Wouldn´t it be great if their empowerment alleviates the medical system to save time, money and resources? 🎉 À l'occasion de la Journée mondiale de la radiologie, les HUG remercient l'ensemble du personnel qui travaille dans cette discipline. Le Service de radiologie des HUG joue un rôle essentiel en réalisant chaque année plus de 250 000 examens grâce à une infrastructure de pointe : plus de 20 installations à rayons X, sept scanners CT, neuf IRM et trois salles de radiologie interventionnelle. On the occasion of the International Day of Radiology, as an example of the endless innovation of medical imaging, we present a paper recently published in European Radiology Experimental. Amide proton transfer-weighted CEST MRI for radiotherapy target delineation of glioblastoma: a prospective pilot study by Patrick Tang, Alejandra Mendez Romero, Remi Nout, Caroline van Rij, Cleo Slagter, Annemarie Swaak-Kragten, Marion Smits & Esther Warnert. Nine glioblastoma patients underwent conventional and amide proton transfer (APT)-weighted MRI prior to radiotherapy. Biological gross tumor volumes based on APT-MRI were significantly larger than those based on conventional-MRI and smaller than the clinical tumor volumes, highlighting the potential of APT-MRI for radiotherapy target delineation of glioblastomas.
