Wind energy has transformed into a vital component of modern energy infrastructure. 🌍🔋 However, these advancements bring unique challenges, particularly in turbine design and qualification processes. In our new article Patricia Vázquez Moreno - EMBA, our carbon key account manager, explores how blade design, material specifications, and standards like IEC 61400-5:2020 and DNV-ST-0376 influence today’s turbines. Offshore blades, over 100 meters in length, must endure immense stresses and undergo rigorous testing to meet performance, durability, and safety standards. As the wind sector grows, standardization initiatives like APQP4Wind are helping streamline production, reduce costs, and accelerate time-to-market. Want to learn more about pull-winding? 💡 Pull-winding is a continuous composite manufacturing process that combines the benefits of pultrusion and winding. It is especially suited for applications that require strong, lightweight, and durable tubular or cylindrical structures. The process allows for optimized fiber orientation, combining axial reinforcement from pultrusion with hoop reinforcement from the winding. This results in stronger, stiffer structures, particularly for components subject to torsion or internal pressure.
