Hello world, we have some very exciting news to share: We at Fermify have submitted the FDA GRAS dossier for our animal-free casein and the same time, we have self-affirmed our casein GRAS. This is a key development for Fermify and the entire precision fermentation sector. We are one of the first companies who sell their casein proteins in the USA. What does that mean for Fermify: We are not only allowed to officially let customers and consumers test our product It also verifies that our process and technology has reached a readiness level that we can produce animal-free casein at scale and reach the favorable product specification of a food product. It took only 60 years to increase per capita protein supply by 50%. This is an incredible achievement - leading to less malnutrition, more balanced diets, and a higher quality of life. To put it in perspective, achieving the same increase before 1960 took 150 years. Now, let’s connect this with global population growth: from 3 billion people in 1960 to over 8 billion today. This means we now produce 4 times more protein than we did 60 years ago. And the demand keeps rising, with no signs of slowing down. During the same period, the size of Earth remained unchanged. Our planet will not stretch to accommodate our needs. Traditional production of proteins, especially animal-based, requires enormous amounts of land, water and electricity, and generates >10% of global CO2 emissions. Unless you are betting on moving to Mars soon, the nutrition challenges need to be solved on Earth. Thanks to advancements in molecular biology and bioengineering, we can now produce a wide range of animal proteins, but without animals.
