The new UK Headquarters for UCB 🌳 The project leveraged the capabilities and capacity of our mass timber manufacturing facilities across Germany and Austria. Our 3 production plants in Stall, AT (NORITEC GmbH Stall), Hermagor, AT (HASSLACHER Holzbausysteme GmbH) and Kleinheubach, DE (HASSLACHER Holzbauteile GmbH) have produced the timber components for the new building. HESS TIMBER (A member of HASSLACHER group) was entrusted with the design, manufacture, delivery, and installation of the timber structure. This innovative structure features curved, straight, and rounded glulam timber, along with 1,500 m³ of cross-laminated timber (CLT), 30% of which was in curved formations, defining the building's distinctive shape. The curvature of the CLT components was achieved through precision CNC machining. Designed as a family pool, the “Häupenbad” in Bergkamen has five adjacent swimming pools, each with a different purpose from a 25 m sports pool to a toddlers' pool area with a play cave. The double slide racer, a highlight, is located between the course (?) and adventure pools. There is also a textile (?) sauna and catering facilities near the toddlers' area. The large glass front can be opened along its entire length at the back so guests can reach the outdoor area easily. The HASSLACHER Group supplied around 90 m³ of spruce glulam in various strength classes. The trusses with a length of up to 18 m were provided with the necessary joinery, screw connections and coating delivered to the construction site. Relax at the Weissenseerhof A small lakeside sauna used to stand on this site on the shores of lake Weissensee. Nowadays the hotel Weissenseerhof, built as a low-energy structure, offers lots of wellness features ranging from massages and cosmetics to saunas, relaxation rooms, seminar rooms as well as sunbathing decks and a spacious roof terrace. Grosvenor Square London - Arrivals Court Located in a historic apartment building in Grosvenor Street, London, between 2018 and 2021 a special wall and ceiling glulam curved coffered structure was created. The free-form hybrid glulam components enhance the interior of a reception hall (Arrivals Court). The core of the components consists of conventional spruce glued laminated timber and only the outer glulam lamellas, which are visible, are made of the finest walnut. The construction has a unique look and gives the interior an elegant and very high-quality overall appearance. The hybrid glulam structure was realised using a special production technology. The special feature is that the hybrid construction also allows free-formed, three-dimensional components, and is therefore particularly popular with architects and planners in the interior design sector. The significantly smaller volume of the individual foundation of the HASSLACHER Green Tower shortens the construction time and the foundation can be removed easily, inexpensively and completely without residue at the end of its service life. A high degree of prefabrication of the wooden structure and exclusively mechanical connections enable simple and quick assembly. An 80 metre long timber structure spans the entrance to the new underground station on St. Kilda Road in Melbourne, Australia. The impressive torus-shaped roof consists of diagonally arranged and curved glued laminated timber beams resting on steel supports. The curved glued laminated timber beams, that are partially over 20 metres long, were transported to the construction site in Australia using a special transport system for extra-long components.
