Wir freuen uns mit Ass. Prof. Julia Derx und gratulieren sehr herzlich zum Erhalt der Lehrbefugnis! 🤝💐 Anfang Mai fand im Zuge des Habilitationsverfahrens von Ass. Prof. Derx im Fachgebiet Grundwasserwirtschaft die Defensio der Habilitationsschrift statt. Der Titel der Habilitationsschrift lautet „Understanding the impact of global changes and management measures on the microbiological water quality and safety in river basins”. Den Vorsitz der Habilitationskommission übernahm Prof. Koen Blanckaert. Bereits Mitte März hielt Julia Derx ihre Probevorlesung zur Bestimmung von Schutzgebieten bei der Trinkwassernutzung. #habilitation #defensio #grundwasserwirtschaft #wasserqualität #schutzgebiet #trinkwasser

Die #ÖGHMP #Konferenz in Salzburg ging vom 13.-16. Mai erfolgreich über die Bühne. Das ICC - Water & Health war personell mit mehr als 20 Teilnehmer:innen sehr stark vertreten. Insgesamt steuerten wir 9 Vorträge, 2 Vorsitzführungen & 18 Poster-Beiträge bei. Sehr erfreulich war die Verleihung des Österreichische Hygienepreises an Lena Campostrini für ihre Arbeit, die "bacterial community turnover times (BaCTT)" als quant. Parameter zur Beurteilung von Biostabilität von Wasser vorschlägt (https://lnkd.in/dZvhhARQ) sowie auch der Gewinn von 2 Poster-Preisen durch Sophia Steinbacher („Crenothrix“) sowie eines weiteren Poster Preises durch Gabriela Eder („SARI pathogens in wastewater“) unter Beteiligung von ICC Water & Health Mitgliedern u. Kooperationspartnern.

Last week, the first ever "Testing Methods in Groundwater" course was concluded. The course included field work in the Hydrological Open Air Laboratory (HOAL) in Petzenkirchen, Lower Austria, as well as lab work in the TU Wien laboratory at Arsenal, Vienna. Students learned how to perform several geophysics measurements, perform a pumping test to study the conductance of the groundwater aquifer, and do a soil column test with bromide to study the tracer's transport parameters! The course was a great success and was met with a lot of enthusiasm! Thanks to Assistant Prof.Dr. Margaret Stevenson and Ao.Prof.Dr. Adrian Flores-Orozco for their organization and teaching, and to Gerhard Lindner and Dr. Thomas James Oudega for their assistance, and thanks to all the students for their participation!
