Wrapping up the week with an update from #Belgium! Dr. Laurens Hermie and the team at UZ Gent conducted a series of liver ablations and spine biopsies using #Micromate™, with Dr. Marco Van Strijen proctoring the initial cases. Thanks to its #portability and #multimodality, the same robotic system supported the procedures in different rooms, working seamlessly with both CT and Cone Beam CT (CBCT) guidance. We look forward to seeing more successful cases from the team! #ValueBasedRobotics #HealthcareInnovation #InterventionalRadiology #InterventionalOncology #SurgicalRobotics

In today's case report, Prof. Julien Garnon walks us through a robotic-assisted #Vertebroplasty performed with #Micromate™ under CBCT guidance. The robotic system helped align the four trocar needles along the planned trajectories at different angles under fluoroscopic live imaging, reducing the need for multiple needle manipulations. For procedures like #cryoneurolysis, CBCT delivers better patient access than CT, yet navigation and intraprocedural assessment could remain challenges. Robots (A) tackle 3D navigation hurdles, while fluoro and automatic needle detection/reconstruction on the initial CBCT (aka « assessment », B) boost precision and efficiency. Need to work on screen overload and integration now… If you want to know more about this « virtual reconstruction », feel free to see our poster at #SIR2025NASH https://lnkd.in/e9qxqJzK Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Society of Interventional Radiology

According to data from the World Economic Forum, at the current rate of progress, it will take until 2158 to reach full gender parity. We can't wait that long. At Interventional Systems, we are proud to have achieved gender parity across much of our company and continue striving to improve representation in more challenging areas, like R&D. Together, we can #AccelerateAction by creating equal opportunities, removing biases, and building inclusive workplaces. Let’s not wait—let’s act. 🌟 Introducing the SHERPA Project: AI-Powered Support for Interventional Radiology 🌟 We are proud to share that the SHERPA project has kicked off in January 2025 — an innovative European project designed to revolutionize interventional radiology (IR) by providing AI-powered assistive technologies that act as a trusted companion for IR specialists. In a field where specialists use advanced imaging to perform high-risk, minimally invasive procedures — like treating brain aneurysms and liver tumors — SHERPA aims to ease workloads, boost clinical accuracy, and improve patient outcomes. 🚀 Our key objectives: ✅ AI-Powered Assistance for IRs: Provide IRs with assistive technologies and seamlessly integrate AI and robotics in neurological and oncological interventions ✅ Comprehensive Framework for AI Impact Evaluation: Develop a tailored methodological framework to systematically assess the value of assistive technologies for the healthcare professionals, patients, and the healthcare system ✅ Enhanced Workflows: Improve staff focus and experience, increase efficiency and reduce workload through automated image-guided workflows for neurovascular and oncological interventions ✅ Proven Value of Assistive Technologies: Demonstrate benefit of automated IR workflows in real-world clinical settings focussing on brain aneurysms and liver ablations ✅ Improved patient outcomes: Drive the adoption of new standards and enhance precision and accuracy in clinical decision-making With seven clinical studies and a strong consortium of partners, SHERPA will not only empower IRs but also build a standardized framework to extend these benefits to other medical specialties. 👉 Follow our page for updates and join uns on this journey! #SHERPAProject #AIinHealthcare #InterventionalRadiology #MedicalInnovation #EUfunded #FutureofHealthcare Philips | Medtronic | Sim&Cure | Interventional Systems | Barco | UMC Utrecht | Universitätsklinikum Hamburg Eppendorf | Greater Paris University Hospitals - AP-HP | Fundacio de Gestio Sanitaria del Hospital de la Santa Creu I de | Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE) | HFC Human-Factors-Consult GmbH | Eindhoven University of Technology | St. Antonius Ziekenhuis | ESMINT Society

Percutaneous thermal #ablation of the Gasserian Ganglion is a standard approach for drug-resistant trigeminal neuralgia, particularly in multiple sclerosis patients. However, this procedure often requires multiple needle repositionings to access the foramen ovale successfully. To address this challenge, Prof. Reto Bale and his team used #Micromate™, adding precision to this complex intervention. As part of the healthcare community, we support the new #WorldCancerDay theme 2025-2027 #UnitedbyUnique, which places people at the center of care and their stories at the heart of the conversation. At Interventional Systems, we believe that precision and accessibility make a real difference in #cancer care. By reducing radiation exposure and procedure time, robotic-assisted, minimally invasive interventions not only improve clinicians' efficiency but also provide patients with a less stressful and more reassuring experience.
