Automated Synthesis of Fault-Tolerant State Preparation Circuits for Quantum Error Correction Codes | arXiv paper The work proposes a synthesis method for fault-tolerant state preparation circuits that generates state prep circuits and corresponding verification circuits. An exact approach (guaranteeing depth- or gate-optimal circuits) as well as a heuristic are available as open source tools. 👉 Read more, access paper: https://lnkd.in/dicGftWy 👉 Check out the tool and the open-source code as part of the Munich Quantum Toolkit (MQT): https://lnkd.in/dX__JEPY Tom Peham Ludwig Schmid Lucas Berent Markus Müller Robert Wille Technical University of Munich RWTH Aachen University Forschungszentrum Jülich #MILLENION #quantum #MILLENIONQUANTUM #QuantumTech #Europe #ErrorCorrection #opensource

One expects coherence and entanglement to play a role then. Strikingly, progress has been slow on seeing actual coherence at work in experiments of the field of quantum thermodynamics. In this work, we develop theoretical ideas of quantum stochastic thermodynamics for unambiguously witnessing such quantum coherence and experimentally demonstrate their functioning on a trapped ion quantum processor. Along the way, we develop witnessing tools that are relevant for trapped ion based quantum information processing. 👉 Read the full article via Nature communications: https://lnkd.in/dtenjjaH Oleksiy Onishchenko Giacomo Guarnieri Pablo Rosillo-Rodes Daniël Pijn J. However, it remains a challenge on contemporary quantum computers without error correction to reach the required 'chemical accuracy'. Prior works have therefore focussed on very simple molecules for proof-of-principle demonstrations. Now, a collaboration of chemists and physicists have developed and demonstrated a variational algorithm integrated into a full chemical workflow that allowed chemical accuracy to be reached on an industrially relevevant molecule. The variational algorithm they used enabled large savings in measurement time, something that many such algorithms struggle with, on the trapped ion quantum computer they implemented it on. 👉 Read more, access paper: https://lnkd.in/d9AqwMWJ Thomas Monz Christian Marciniak Robert Freund Ludwig Nützel Alexander Gresch Lukas Hehn Lucas M. Training needs extra data, is known to introduce bias, and crucially requires a training data set to begin with. Now, researchers from Munich and Innsbruck have teamed up to develop and then demonstrate an unsupervised algorithm that can find even unknown orders of quantum phases with no training, or indeed human intervention. Their trapped-ion-based demonstration of the general technique was done on two independent machines with qubits and also qudits in tandem. 👉 Read more, access paper: https://lnkd.in/dm6wW35P #MILLENION #quantum #MILLENIONQUANTUM #Machine #learning #QuantumTech #Europe Lode Pollet Nico Sadoune Ivan Pogorelov Christian Marciniak Thomas Monz Martin Ringbauer Claire Edmunds Giacomo Giudice Giuliano Giudici Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München Universität Innsbruck planqc AQT Alpine Quantum Technologies Institut für Quantenoptik und Quanteninformation (IQOQI) in Innsbruck Munich Center for Quantum Science and Technology

arXiv paper 2407.11539 - Microscopic parametrizations for gate set tomography under coloured noise GST allows for a self-consistent characterization of noisy quantum information processors. However, it does it at a considerable resource cost which limits its applicability. In this work, we show that a microscopic parametrization of quantum gates under time-correlated phase noise can reduce the required resources enabling a more efficient version of GST for trapped-ion devices.
