One of the most compelling parts of her talk was the reference to the Marshmallow Experiment. 🍬 In the 1960s, Stanford professor Walter Mischel conducted an experiment where children were given a marshmallow and told they could either eat it immediately or wait 15 minutes and receive a second one. Years later, follow-up studies showed that children who waited had better SAT scores, healthier lifestyles, and greater success in life.
